I spoke to my brother yesterday morning.

Even though it appears as though his ban has been lifted, it sadly looks as though he's not going to return.

I won't post the exact words he used, as it will probably get me banned, too...

I hope he comes back. If all the interesting and funny people are gone all we'll be left with is mods and people who argue about slipcases -- how bad would that be??

I got suspended last year for "racist humour". Sure, it's tempting to say "f**k you" and storm off, but I realised that such nonsense was the ill-informed opinion of one mod, and not reflective of everyone who posts here.

Same here. The place can get a bit less insightful when members with such passion and enthusiasm for movies and television are M.I.A.

Hopefully he's not too put off and returns in time.

I'll pass on your regards later.

He DID wonder if not posting concise and oh-so insightful like...

"Pass"

or

"Day 1 for me!"

...were also a factor in his banning.

I feel his frustration in that regard. It's the main reason why (other than the blatant trolling) I wasn't that sorry to see the IMDb boards close down. There's only so many best of lists you can read without getting fed up. Blu-ray.com feels like the only decent place to discuss a wide choice of films online, now. I looked at the Rotern Tomatoes boards the other day, but they are just like the IMDb boards in miniature. I don't post on this site as much as I should, but I find it a much more rewarding place, though it's not perfect of course... Nowhere is.

Your brother shouldn't jack in the site, altogether, but it's easy for me to say this as I wasn't the one who was banned. Maybe he should just give it a rest for a while and come back later on. I got a little annoyed over the Passengers thread on the Movies boards over the Christmas holidays, because someone used it as a place to discuss other films including La La Land where said person spoiled the ending! When I brought this up on the boards, I got flack for quoting the offending thread from another user and my thread deleted, but the original spoiler one from the other user still remained... Should've got in touch with the mods about that, but it's not really my style... besides, I still had the film spoiled for me on a non-specific film board and that's what bothered me more than anything. Took a break for a while and I don't feel so sore about it now...

Sorry about the the off-topic rant, there, but it was good to get it off my chest. Tell your brother to sit the boards out for while and I'm sure he'll get the urge to post about something sooner or later (hopefully sooner)... But it's his choice and like I said, he was the one who was banned, not me. To be honest, I think the main reason I don't post on here more often is risk of posting something that bothers someone for some reason and I end up banned myself.

La La Land ends with everyone turning into tap-dancing aliens.

Oops, I did it again!

I'm not sure about that, but I have heard that Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway are Lizard People.

Shame that one mod's over-reaction and a temporary ban has led to this, I liked his posts.

No region a playback for 2 or 3 according to this site's database entries.

I'm trying to get some more confirmation on the first film's disc in this set.

Does it have a new transfer or did they re-use Universal's transfer and if so does it look like more like their U.K. disc or their U.S. disc?

https://www.caps-a-holic.com/c.php?d...2=11558&c=4562

Also is the original mono mix included?

Im sure someone else will confirm or correct this, but from what i know, Part 1 in the set is the same transfer as the original UK Universal release, and so id also presume from that, that it doesn't have the mono audio.

Personally, i own the U.S 40th Anniversary release with the original mono. And iv got the Fabulous release of Part 2 separately.

From a review: "the audio is the very same 5.1 mix which was haunted previous releases, with no original mono option to be found. This irritating multi-channel effort not only adds obvious new engine sounds, but royally screws up by eliminating most of Fred’s barking, along with a punch-line horn-honk".

It uses the older (and superior IMO) UK transfer, not the US transfer, but it has no original mono audio.

Yes, it's a case of pick what means more to you, picture or audio. Some of the time im not to fussy with audio but i am with this film. (The audio on the UK release of Cannonball Run im dissapointed with aswell)

Even if someone would argue the picture is better on the UK release, it's certainly not by a wide margin by any means id of thought, so in that respect, the U.S release is the better option. You are still getting a very satisfactory image, original audio, and a long documentary (The Bandit) So the U.S release wins it for me.

I just ended up keeping both. I’ll need to rip the discs if I want to use the older master with the mono, but I really prefer the relatively unmolested UK transfer and I also think the US transfer looks vertically squished. I’m actually completely ignorant to the audio changes, so I’m not sure I’d even notice the benefits of the mono track!
