This is great news! I just watched this for the first time a couple of months ago and enjoyed it a lot, but assumed it wasn't high-profile enough for the exclusive line, at least compared to the other 80s/90s titles they've been putting out lately. This one will definitely find a home in my collection

Bought the scope version on Movies Anywhere a year ago. This movie (in its OAR) is the very definition of an unappreciated gem. It's wonderful. Jump on this like a trampoline, fellas.

https://www.amazon.com/Gangs-Journey.../dp/B001U38XWI I've never actually seen this, because there was never a proper widescreen release of it until now. Shame I'd have to go the DMC route again. ![]() |

I literally just posted this a day or two ago in the Movie Title Game thread and thought it would be nice to have it on Blu-ray. I may finally have to join the DMC. There are too many exclusives I want at this point, not to.

Amusing to me that Patton Oswalt ending up marrying Natty Gann last year.

I have to say, though, that I think the Horner score is absolutely perfect for this film; I don't see how it could be improved upon. (James Horner had also stepped in two years earlier as a replacement composer for Disney; he wrote the new score for "Something Wicked This Way Comes" after the film was re-cut and the Georges Delerue score dropped.) I'm really looking forward to this release; I'm only sorry that it will be a bare-bones DMC version, with no extras whatsoever, because a little background information, a commentary track with Meredith Salenger, etc., would be very welcome. EDITED TO ADD: I found this article comparing the two scores to be of great interest for fans of the film: http://www.filmtracks.com/titles/journey_natty.html Last edited by octobercountry; 06-23-2018 at 06:22 PM. |

Sadly, the Varese boxed set that included Gann along with two other rejected Bernstein scores (the lousy 90's Scarlett Letter with Demi Moore and Martin Scorsese's Gangs Of New York) is OOP an expensive on the secondary market (I have a copy, thankfully). It's kind of amazing how many scores Bernstein had rejected over the last two decades of his career. The man was a legend. Here's his GONY score: Quote:
