Just saw Filmworker about Leon Vitali. An absolutely fascinating and sometimes challenging documentary about the secret hero behind Stanley Kubrick. Its so sad to see how swept under the rug this guy is, when he is an absolute master in his own right.
Can't wait to see his 4k restoration after the ugly abomination that was the Nolan "unrestored" 70mm print. There's no way a perfectionist like Kubrick would've signed off on a print that looked like "Grindhouse". Vitali is the only one who should be supervising these transfers/releases. Warner should've been honoring Leon with a wide release of his new transfer in the States (like what was smartly done in the UK) instead of promoting the Nolan ego trip. Would love a Dolby Cinema release). In the documentary, Vitali said that his perfect death would be at the end of making a 4K master of 2001. Luckily he's still around to see its release. |

Regardless, extras are the same as with the previous edition. You can stick to your old copy for the extras in that case. |

Blu-ray stand-alone probably won’t include the swag packaged with the 4K

I really wanted to see this but was only playing one night and on a work night for me. So, hoping it hits Netflix or available on disc. |

The great thing about this restoration was that Christopher Nolan was involved. Clear he has a great admiration for Kubrick and the movie. Good for him.
![]() Incidentally, it's clear the Arthur C. Clarke interview from the original MGM/Warner release won't be included but why? Plus, you think with THIS release getting 2 discs, you think they include that interview (maybe a new appreciation/commentary by Nolan). |

i'll wait for reviews of the technical specs, and if they're stellar not even 100 bucks is too much for this masterwork.
