Default Upgrade-itis??

I've notice recently that a lot of us on here have caught the bug after the new year...

I'm seeing a lot of people that already have nice gear but still have the itch to add on or change up completely..

For me, I had my first home theater last April which is pretty much Driver_Kings recommended setup for HT virgins. I've just recently upgraded and am waiting for my sub to come in which completes my first upgrade... Almost a complete change with the only thing left from the original setup being My Polk Monitor 50's.

Some of you have been at this a long time with a lot of experience and probably a lot of changes..

So how often for those with "upgrade-itis" have you changed you equipment? Whats is the average you keep your gear until deciding it's time for a change?

I hope this is it for me for now but I could be saying what most of you have said to yourselves before..

I just got a completely new setup minus the TV and I already know what I'm going to replace it all with(must go bigger and better all around). Not sure when I will, but it will probably be in a few months heh

Bought my first setup in 01 or 02. Last December got a new receiver. Feb new fronts. April new surrounds. Summer new sub.

on my list:
Emotiva UPA-7
either a new receiver with preouts (Doh!) or a pre/pro.
new TV (but it'll be awhile)

Finally, i'm always on the lookout to buy some Focals but that is really low on the priority list.

no kidding. I've been looking at the Emotiva for quite some time. in fact, I remember telling you before ordering the Emotiva unit that I'd be watching your experience with it.... and low and behold, you've got me all excited and trying to figure out if I can order one.... i need a new receiver at the same time, otherwise it will just sit

As for me, I got my HTS in 2006 starting with DLP TV & HTIB!!! After having my system for about 2 weeks, I've always been itching too upgrade audio components whenever i get the money. Seems like every 6 months after my first HT purchase, I've changed out my HTIB speakers, too floorstanding towers, then to a bigger center channel, a deeper bass subwoofer and real life surround.

I opened 2009 with a purchase of new yamaha receiver too decode HD signals and push my 5.1 speaker system. What a difference in sound coming from the yamaha receiver.

Now I'm looking too add from 5.1 to 7.1 speakers, then upgrade my floorstand towers to polk's RTI-A9s, and finally round off with larger HDTV!!!

However, buying for my bluray collection has hendered my spending capabilities!!!

I love my Denon AVR3808, but I would like to upgrade to a separate pre/pro. If some asks for the right price, I may just sell it to them, hint hint.

I have upgrade itis too. It's like an illness with me. However, I decided to hold off this year to see which direction the economy goes. But at the top of my list are B&W 802D and/or a JL Audio Fathom F113.

I think, THINK, that once my Cyron LED backlights come in from amazon I'll be completely finished. I do plan on getting new furniture but that doesn't count, does it?

I do plan on getting a new TV, but I'm going to wait until I can find a really nice 60 inch for under 2000. So I'm guessing next year some time.

I'm itching badly for a projector and an Emotiva amp. I gotta find a place where I can test drive the projector before I make the purchase.

Does it count that I am researching to put in an audio system? I guess thats an upgrade. I have no real idea what direction I want to go, which is why I love threads like this....so i can steal other people's ideas

They sound fantastic but I already crave MORE! After I replace my TV with a projector setup, I'll probably use the RTi a5's as surrounds and replace them with something in B&W 600 series. Probably the B&W 684's with the HTM61 center channel and add another Martin Logan Dynamo. If I wasn't getting married in November of this year I'd say something in the B&W 800 line but I just can't see that happening until mid 2010. Also replace my Onkyo with something else, Yamaha, Denon, Marantz haven't decided yet. Don't get me wrong though, the RTi's are really great speakers for the price(about $850 for the fronts and center, brand new and shipped)

I'm targeting to get some B&W 800 Series in 2012. And probably a better amp to power them.

However, this year, I'm getting new cables. That will suffice for now.

Yea im really looking at the B&W 600's also, but its not my final decision as i have alot of other speakers to listen to first. congratulations on the marriage, 2010 seems like a long time, but those 800's should worth the wait.
