Default Reccomend me a 4k player please, I have a few things I'd like it to have.

I need a 4k player to go with my 4k TV. I have a few things in mind I'd like to help narrow it down some, if they are feasible.

It will remember where I left off if I turn off the system. My ps3 now if I turn it off will pick right back up where I left in the movie when I come back to it later. Really helpful if I am watching a series or TV show.

Not filled with a ton of apps to navigate. If I put a movie in I want to easily just watch the movie. I also find the players turn on and navigate slow from lots of apps.

Has dvd upconversion since I still have a decent amount of DVDs I watch.

Supports hdr10.

Thanks for any advice

Default Hi, newbie here.

I'm in the same boat, I want to start buying 4k blu ray, but I can't seem to find an affordable 4k blu ray player or TV with 4k Resolution.

Any recommendations?

in Blu-Rays I believe this is a function of the disc, not the player. That only works with DVD's via the actual player. It's annoying.

Firstly, I highly recommend the Sony X-800. An outstanding player - a solid, and well built machine with an excellent performance.

As for remembering where you left off, I'd agree with 'SixSpeedSamurai'. I have discs where once you press the stop button, even if the disc is left in the machine, it will jump back to the main menu.

I have other discs where once you resume play, a message comes up asking if you wish to continue or start again, and some other discs where it will just continue automatically without even prompting you.

resume has little to do with the player, it depends on the disc.

That was actual advice.....4K players aren’t expensive,a good HDR TV with maybe Dolby Vision is another thing.
Cheaper 4K sets won’t deliver the best P/Q.

So I got votes for Sony x700 and x800. I'll look up and compare them. Thanks.

Curious though, how do DVDs look on them? Is upscaling on say my ps3 make them look as good as on a x700? Or does x700 actually make them look better? Thanks.

I highly recommend the Sony X700. My first 4k player was a LG 870, they were a Black Friday 2017 Walmart special and then last spring Walmart cleared them out at $49 and then $25 and I snagged one, excellent player. But I wanted a second player and went with the X700 as it has Dolby Vision for future proofing. I've only had it for 2 weeks and have been giving it a workout and it's been terrific. By the way the X800 doesn't have and will never get Dolby Vision, and neither will the LG 870.

For a TV I suggest an HDR set, as one with Dolby Vision are twice as much.

As for the DVD upscaling I haven't played a DVD in at least a year. But today for some reason I was thinking about the movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, so I'll give the DVD a go tonight.

If you don’t care about Dolby Vision, then get the x800... It’s a well made player and I loved the design and build. But I care about Dolby Vision and sold it and got the x700... Picture and audio quality was exactly the same and Dolby Vision movies got a great boost in picture quality for the most part. The x700 is cheaply made on the build but that’s just nitpicking.

Right now, Best Buy has the x700 on sale for $179.99

I can vouch for the Dolby Vision on teh Sony X700 paired with the TCL 55" 6-Series. I upgraded the Sony's firmware today, and got DV...my Mission: Impossible 2 showed yesterday, which was my first UHD disc with DV. So, guess what I did? Looks AMAZING. That combo will be about $800 out the door.

I highly recommend the Sony UBP-X700. The upscale on the blu-rays is spectacular. I'm very happy with it. I saw it 2 days ago on Best Buy, went down to $179.00.

Hey everybody, need to get a new player also. Getting the 65” LG C8 this coming week

I have the Samsung K8500 but need something with Dolby Vision. I am looking for a high quality player, also some streaming apps. I was looking at the LG UBK90 but looks like only has Netflix and YouTube

Thanks everybody.
