I find it odd that Amazon has it under Lionsgate and not Paramount, although they have taken distribution to the American Zoetrope catalog titles before; Apocalypse Now, The Conversation.

Lionsgate is American Zoetrope's distributor in the US - Paramount was only distributor for so many years.

Damn! I can't believe this is finally coming out. I'd given up hope on it years ago.

One of my favorite films from the 80's, and might just be my favorite Coppola movie.
I can appreciate the appeal of the Godfather films, and I do enjoy/admire Apocalypse Now and the Conversation- But for pure entertainment, this is my jam right here.

Wonderful news to wake up to!

I just hope he hasn't slathered the master in 20 different shades of teal and orange.

I was a little concerned about the aspect ratio. I remember this being a "Storaro Special" like it was on Laserdisc and DVD.

That may have been one of the holdups for this getting a release on blu-ray. Coppola and Storaro probably had to go back and forth for years just to come to an agreement on whether the aspect ratio should be OAR or Storaro's "re-envisioning" until finally...Coppola shows up at Storaro's home and makes him an offer he can't refuse.

One of the few Coppola films I have not seen. Judging by my admiration of Coppola and the reaction this announcement is getting, sounds like a totally worthwhile blind buy. I honestly never heard of it until recently, and then forgot about it until this announcement...but hey...now I'll never forget.

It's an oddball in the Coppola canon; it's not a pure comedy but, given his pure comedies, that might be for the best. It's just very fun to watch, it's a throwback to Capra or Preston Sturges, with a killer cast. It doesn't seem like a movie that would play to Coppola's strengths, but he nailed it. I'd say it's head and shoulders above anything else he's made post-Rumble Fish (or pre-Godfather). It deserves to be better remembered than it has been.
