I got this disc and imediatly tried the 5.1 LPCM setting. for some reason both my samsung and PS3 want to recognize the 24/192 5.1 pcm track as 2 channel stereo in 96khz. I can get the ps3 to eventually recognize the 24/192 5.1 track but its hit or miss sometimes it does sometimes it doesnt. when it does wow oh wow does it sound great... even better than bitstreaming the SACD that they give you or DTSMA.
since its both players is it a glitch with my preamp? or is it just being finicky is there a solution? ive verifired that all 3 have current firmware updates. |

according to the specs it should... and it does handle it. its like the preamp isnt gettting the proper handshake (or flag or whatever the proper term is) all the time... sometimes it reads it right away sometimes it doesnt. with the divirtimenti disc you cant toggle the audio you have to go into the menu. I can get it to read it by switching the audio selection (dtsma vs lpcm etc) back and forth. most of the time its started in 2 channel 96 khz then after a few minutes of playback i hit the direct button on the remote and it will kick in...
heres a pic of the specs: update: I have noticed when it is in 24/192 the audyssey eq light doesnt light up... maybe its audyssey that cant handle it? maybe ill try going into the menu and seeing if i can disable it and see if it reads it correctly... 2d update: its got to be audyssey causing a problem... went through the menu and turned it off... boom it reads it correctly everytime on both players... not a huge deal but its an added step I have to go through when i want to play this disc. I went through and copied down the audyssey settings and set it to manual... i then entered all the settings manually... it still reads both discs correctly but heres a dumb question are the manual settings I entered 100 percent equal to what audyssey puts out? it sounds the same as far as i can tell. ![]() Last edited by hoogoosedmoose41; 01-20-2009 at 03:26 AM. The 9.8 can definately handle 24 bit/192 kHz. I am using an Onkyo 805 and a ps3 combo. I just tried this with my disc and it works fine. It's great to know about the Audyssey issue. I have never used Audyssey, hence why I didn't have the issue. I have never been a big fan of Audyssey, but that's another discussion.
