![]() ![]() Famed drive-in movie critic Joe Bob Briggs is returning to television! Sort of. On Friday, July 13, Briggs will be hosting The Last Drive-In, a 24-hour marathon on Shudder starting at 9PM EST/6PM PST. So far only three movies have been announced -- Tourist Trap, Sleepaway Camp and Basket Case -- but the marathon is promising a total of 12-13 movies. Unfortunately, you will need a subscription to view the marathon over Shudder's live feed; it won't be available via the free Shudder TV feed on their website. However, Shudder is offering the promo code JOEBOB to receive a free 7 day trial. For fans of Briggs's previous shows Drive-In Theater on The Movie Channel and MonsterVision on TBS, this is the moment we've been waiting years for: Joe Bob back on our TV screens hosting horror movies. Expect the return of Joe Bob staples -- the drive in totals, the mail girl -- and some surprises. I'm so excited for this. I was a big fan of MonsterVision in high school and college. I discovered it right around the time Joe Bob began hosting in 1996, when I was just getting in to horror, and it was a great way to start exploring the genre. I looked forward to it every Friday (and later Saturday) evening, and even in the final days when network changes made it start showing more mainstream films, I loved it for Joe Bob's great commentary. He's been approached about hosting movies again over the years but this is the first time such talks have become a reality. I can't wait! Movie Lineup: 1. Tourist Trap (1979) 2. Sleepaway Camp (1983) - with special guest Felissa Rose 3. Rabid (1977) 4. The Prowler (1981) 5. Sorority Babes In the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama (1988) 6. Daughters of Darkness (1971) 7. Blood Feast (1963) 8. Basket Case (1982) 9. Re-Animator (1985) 10. Demons (1985) 11. The Legend of Boggy Creek (1972) - with special guest Lyle Blackburn 12. Hellraiser (1987) 13. Pieces (1982) Last edited by Michael24; 10-14-2019 at 11:38 PM. |

According to a post shared by Joe Bob on Facebook this morning, this is the schedule for the marathon.
(East coast start times, followed by west coast start times) Movie #1 - 9:00 PM / 6:00 PM Movie #2 - 11:00 PM / 8:00 PM Movie #3 - 1:00 AM / 10:00 PM Movie #4 - 3:00 AM / 12:00 AM Movie #5 - 5:00 AM / 2:00 AM Movie #6 - 7:00 AM / 4:00 AM Movie #7 - 9:00 AM / 6:00 AM Movie #8 - 10:30 AM / 7:30 AM Movie #9 - 1:30 PM / 10:30 AM Movie #10 - 2:30 PM / 11:30 AM Movie #11 - 4:30 PM / 1:30 PM Movie #12 - 6:30 PM / 3:30 PM Movie #13 - 8:30 PM / 5:30 PM During a Reddit AMA yesterday, Joe Bob was asked about the lineup of movies and said Shudder wants to keep it a surprise, so the movies (other than the three he's already mentioned) won't be known until they appear during the marathon. I may update the first post with a list of the films as they air, although I will have to sleep at some point I may miss a few that air overnight. Shudder has also hinted that this whole marathon may be added to on demand streaming at a later date. On a FAQ they posted one question was "Will the marathon be able to stream on demand on Shudder after it airs?" and they simply replied "Joe Bob will live on. Stay tuned for details." Haven't watched Joe Bob Briggs since Monstervision when I was still in high school. Found a promo code for a free 30 day trial on facebook,
[Show spoiler] , gonna hook my roku up tonight and see how much of this I can catch before I pass out. Haven't marathoned anything this late in a while.

Yeah, it would be amazing to watch the entire thing in one go but I know I won't be able to do that. But I should be able to watch the first few movies and the last few. Then if Shudder later makes it available to stream on demand, I can watch the movies I miss that way.

There's a Twitch user named Cthlhu who is streaming it on his channel right now. It's literally being recorded with a camera pointed at the TV, but it's at least watchable. Of course commercials came on right during the finale of Sleepaway Camp completely cutting out the final shot.
It's a shame the Shudder stream got screwed up, Joe Bob is killing it, him talking about mangled dicks with Felissa Rose was hilarious. Last edited by Dr. Phibes; 07-14-2018 at 05:57 AM. Reason: Fixed username |

Oh my god, I am loving this. My brother and I have been cracking up. This is great! Shudder needs to give Joe Bob a regular spot. He is killing it. It's like he never stopped Monstervision.
Missed the intro but the stream finally kicked back in just before Tourist Trap started. Joe Bob was wrapping up the Drive-In Totals. Aside from a couple hiccups (thankfully during the two-minute break after the first movie), it's been working fine since. Rabid is starting just now. |
