Default Any hope on Rob Zombie's Halloween on BluRay?

Dimension/MGM is bringing it out in theatres... is Dimension HD only? I thought the Weinstein's are running the show there? I know MGM is neutral arent they?

I really hope to see this on BluRay... I think this movie is gonna be killer!

I think the hd dvd blu ray thing will pretty much be over by the time it comes out so that particular studio won't want to miss out on more revenue. So yeah I think 90% chance we will get it on blu -ray!!!

MGM was acquired by Sony, and their home video distribution is handled by Fox . . . so no HD DVD for Halloween. By the time it comes out, Fox should be back in the Blu-ray game.

Whooaaa..I don't know about bad things. Rob Zombie makes great horror films. He knows tons about the old exploitation movies and is a huge horror fanatic. I have faith that he's gonna make an even better Halloween than the original.

*The way that I see it is that many older films were astonishing at the time because they set precedents, but there's plenty of newer films that learn from them and then ADD more to it. I'm not the least bit scared of the original Halloween, but I find the movie fantastic. I think the new one will be even better.

This would currently be a HD DUD release. The Weinsteins are in control of media distribution. But there has been word out of Comic Con that Weinsteins are about to go neutral starting with Grindhouse maybe.

I haven't heard bad things at all about this film. We will all have to wait and see but I agree with cruzzer cruz that Rob has found his nich in movies and is a talented director.

I think August 31st you will be eating your own words.

It's all a matter of personal opinion. I thought Devil's Rejects was better than House of A 1,000 Corpses. It was obvious he was cutting his teeth with that one, and has improved as a director. I can't wait to see what he has done with the franchise myself. I'll most definetly be buying the original when Starz releases it this fall. One of my all time favorite horror movies.

Good catch, I was just going off the info from the OP. I think Weinstein's are in a good position, being a company that (this could be incorrect) hasn't released anything on either format. I think after the onslaught of BD news last week and the (probable) b*itchslapping HD-DVD will get with 300, they'd be wise to switch, and they're in a good position to reconsider.

I just searched everyplace I know of, and the original Clerks is nowhere to be found on HD DVD. I know they released Clerks 2 in HD . . . was this a typo? I forgot Clerks 2 was released after the formation of the Weinstein Company.

Ok my mistake, I thought it was the first one and not the second one. I forgot it was the second movie. I wasn't too big a fan of this one.

Clerks would be a Blu Ray exclusive because it is still owned by Disney. Because all the old Miramax and Dimension films are still Disney. But the "New" Dimension films (starting with Derailed?) are under the Weinstein/Genius umbrella. That would be something - a franchise split like Clerks between HDs.
