I think the Nielsen numbers later this week should be very interesting.

All of my Targets are sold out of the Blu-Ray version, but have a lot of HD-DVD versions.

Agreed, I wonder if we will hit 80/20, that would be awsome, everywhere I go 300 blu is either in low stock or sold out, I've yet to see a sell out of hd dvd.

Can you believe some stores were only sent 2 to 3 copies. What a tease!

My local best buy had 1 copy left as of this afternoon. Funny thing was it wasn't even in the BD section, 300 (all formats)had a section to itself.

The tricky thing about this scenario is the original quantity of stock shipped to all of these locations. They may all be sold out of Blu-ray and have plenty of HD-DVD stock left, but if they were shipped 20 Blu-ray and 100 HD-DVD, that affects the situation. In that case, HD-DVD could have easily sold more copies. When I polled all of the locations in my town I specifically requested if they knew how many of each were sent to them. In most cases the stores received more copies of the HD-DVD, but not by many.

The point: we can't make any conjectures based on a "sold out" status. The Nielson numbers are the only thing that will tell us the truth. It's just unfortunate that they can't track these specific large release scenarios on a day by day basis for the first week or two.

Oh, there is definitely a lead... but the "how much" is a variable that is indeterminable until Nielson posts!
