Default Disturbing/unsettling opening sequences in non-horror movies

Sat down to watch my Mr. Klein BD the other day, and wow, the opening scene really caught me off guard by how disturbing it was - right from that first frame.

Your picks?

The opening of Irreversible comes to mind, especially if you see it in a theater where the sound has its desired effect.

Is there any more disturbing opening line than the one from Calvary?

No....I don't think so.

The rape sequence in Irreversible may be the most disturbing thing I've ever seen in a movie.

Bobcat's God Bless America springs to mind. In fact the rest of the movie can't live up to the opener which can be a common issue. Scanners infamous scene for instance, the rest of the film is tame in comparison and I felt gyped by the end.

Sicario was unsettling. Almost a little too real.

Gummo's opening sequence.

Although that movie is disturbing as a whole.

The most disturbing opening sequences are the ones that end with the words, "Directed by Michael Bay".

Sicario: Day of the Soldado isn't half bad as far as unsettling openers go.

Cliffhanger also has a rough beginning.

A few people laughed in my theater laughed when you see his body hit the ground.
