I like Keith David but he's not even going to come close to Clarence Williams III!

The stories look awfully similar too-- some of the shots look like a remake of the first one....

I pretty much agree, but I'm gonna give it a chance considering everybody involved.

Now we know why Universal allowed the '95 film to be licensed.

Sure, why not. I'll watch it, the fact that Darin Scott & Rusty Cundieff are involved has my interest, otherwise I wouldn't really care.

I didn't even know there was a second one. Very curious.

I loved the original film growing up and it was one of my more highly desired Scream Factory wishes prior to it's release. I'm cautiously optimistic about this one and will undoubtedly pick it up this October. If it can recapture some of the fun vibe of the original it should be a success. Beyond that though, I LOVE horror anthologies and so that alone is reason to celebrate and for me to pick this up. Hopefully it settles at $14.99 (or less) on release so it's an easy, cheap, no brainer of a purchase.

I like the first one so I'll probably give this one a chance when it comes out.

It makes me wonder if there will be a cheap bare bones version from Universal released at the same time.

This will probably be as good as Creepshow 3.

Doubt it’s that bad. This has the same creative team as the original.

I'm surprised Universal didn't release a barebones BD before they let Shout license it a la Halloween II

No, he's right - it'll probably be crap. The original film was made by a talented crew but that was another era. Every time someone comes out of retirement and makes a new movie it's always NOTHING like their older material. It's like they forgot how to make movies and are being trained by a modern filmmaker. Remember the new movie made by the guy who directed Let's Scare Jessica To Death? I don't even remember the title but it indistinguishable from any random generic modern thriller. And don't get me started on John Carpenter and The Ward

Rusty has been directing for TV ever since Sprung (which wasn't anywhere near as good as Hood or Hat, not even ****ing close), and Scott has done a few things, so I wouldn't call it coming out of retirement. I have hopes for this, if half as smart as the original, it'll be good.

Then again, Deep Blue Sea 2 was pretty bad...

I'm still day one, assuming it's at Best Buy. Pre-orders never seem to work for me, except for direct from Scream which only get lost in the mail about 20% of the time.

I'd add that seeing as how this is an anthology film you will likely have 5 chances at finding something to like (4 segments plus wrap around). common anthology complaints of it being "uneven with varying degree's of success/enjoyment based on each individual segment" are expected.

Could the film turn out to be terrible? Possibly. But I feel like with that many chances to get something right the odds are much more likely that there will be at least one good segment in the film which folks find enjoyable. To be honest I'd be more surprised if this turned out to be as bad as some folks think it will be as opposed to if it turned out to be really good and the sleeper release of the fall. There has only ever been one anthology film where I was truly unimpressed with the film across the board... that was XX which I felt had decent ideas but was an unfinished, uninspiring turd. Even then, XX still isn't any worse than Sharknado or countless other made for tv productions so me saying it's a bad film still leaves a whole lot of room for truly terrible films below it.

The nice thing is that since this is coming from Universal, if folks wait until January/February it will probably fall to a sub $10 price point.

My expectations aren't too high, but I'll give it a shot. The original is one of my favorite horror anthology films.
