Default First Blood/Rambo II

Not sure if this is in the right section or not. I finally got a PS3 last friday, and my first 2 purchases (which I've had a few weeks ), were the first 2 rambo movies. They are among my all time faves. Watching them on blu for the first time, felt like I had never really seen them. Sure, there were some scenes that only looked "slightly" better than my dvd, but when it hit it stride, it nailed it. Some of the scenes in the forest, just beautiful to look at. Something tells me my check on friday will be gone pretty quickly

FYI, not sure if it is all over, I'm in Nashville, TN. The walmart that I go to, has the first 3 rambo movies for $10 each on blu, along with the first 2 Saw movies, and maybe 3 or 4 more than I can't remember.

Oh, and they have/had the latest rambo for $12.88

Ha, First Blood can hardly be considered old. In theory, the Blu-ray can look as good as the film that went through the camera.

Glad you enjoyed your purchases; I also really like them on Blu, they look great.

Just so you know, Stallone plans on releasing his own cut of the newest Rambo and use the original title 'John Rambo' and I can't wait

I've seen them I don't know how many times. I was 13 and saw First Blood at the cinema when it first come out. Looked fantasic on blu I thought. My tv is getting onto 4 years old, is a 65", with it being a little older, highest resolution is 1080i, so I'm sure I'm missing out a little, but looked fantasic to my eyes. I need to get a "new" movie to see what they look like....probably buy The Dark Knight this coming week, since I'm one of the only people in the world who hasn't seen the damn thing!!!

If you haven't yet watched the director's commentary for First Blood Part 2, you really should. It's hilarious.

You should probably get on that haha. Don't feel too bad, a radio host that I enjoy finally just saw it. Also, I'm taking a girl to see it in Imax this weekend, our first date .

Halarious in a good way or bad? I'd definitely listen if it were Stallone; he does excellent commentary on First Blood and Rocky Balboa.

Yeah, and movie technology has really changed since the dark ages of 1982. "First Blood" was shot on film, and an HD master exists somewhere. No one would be surprised that a film from 1982 should have a good Blu-ray transfer.

Default Rambo Review:

Hello,

Many of you have probably watched Rambo at some point of time. I have not yet watched Rambo, however I have bought First Blood, First Blood Part 2, and Rambo III on Blu-Rays.

I am going to watch at least one of them today, and I am planning on reviewing it for everyone.

My review will come along soon.

Stayed home today and watched Rambo First Blood, and First Blood part 2. They are amazing movies that hit my favorite movies of all time.

The Blu-Ray aspect is amazing, and the movie itself is just wow!

I am pleased to say I got all 3 movies for 15 dollars on Ebay. Very good deal.

I have the dvd, and I also have the BLU

um the blu is 2:34;1
and the dvd is 2:35:1 aspect ratio

so you actually see the difference in wide shots, I compared these as I have two tv's in my room, and in the blu ray, scenes are cut off on the edges of the frame, where as on the DVD it shows the whole shot. very slightly but still not showing the whole shot.

interesting.
also the BLU RAY is more vivid in color in most scenes, but it seems over saturated in certain places and blacks too black so it makes fine detail not possible to see where as the dvd you can see it.
sure the dvd is washed out, compared to the blu.
but for me, the dvd shows more of the scene, has that original 80's feel, and doesn't seems over saturated.

this film needs a remastering! as I want a better BR copy.
