Default Instant Messaging

Has Instant Messaging on this site ever been suggested or considered? I guess similar to that on Facebook where it is integrated to the site. Yes, that is only for chatting to those on your friends list who are online, but perhaps it would work here - pick someone who is online and chat away??

Could be handy if someone has a quick question or if they want to have a friendly chat?

that's the point of PMs, my friend. plus there is the option to include your AIM, Yahoo, MSN etc user name in your profile so people can instant message if you/they so desire.

edit: some days the general chat thread basically turns into a real time chat room

yep... im aware of those options - its just for the sake of ease! I guess I am just lazy and would like the easy option

Just thought I'd throw it out there!

Live chat would be amazing. Or at least an official mIRC room. This forum is so busy it's pretty much a giant never-ending chat room.

Private messaging is enabled for this very reason!

I'll vote "NO" on this.

Sites w/ chat windows get flagged quickly by my work filter.

Leave my blu-ray.com alone!

A shoutbox would probably be best.
