Default Painting your speakers

Hey all, got a quick question: can you paint your speakers yourself and if you can, what kind of paint? I ask because Newegg has some excellent deals on Polk Monitor 50's and 30's and a CS1 and I want black. These are in maple.

Thank you.

I'm guessing you're just talking about painting the cabinets, and not the drivers or anything. I've read where other posters have done it with no reported issues. I don't see any reason why you couldn't do it.

Yes, I saw those. Though I'm not sure how they'd work with a CS1.

Use Zimmer 1-2-3 primer from Home Depot and then pick your color paint.
Use foam rollers for a smooth surface, I just did my kitchen cabinets, same
process. Go to Home Depot or Lowes and get advice if you aren't sure.

Yup!

1. Wash the surface well and make sure it's very dry
2. Tape off areas you don't want painted.
3. Rustoleum Primer Spray paint (black). Make sure it's rustoleum brand

this stuff works on anything! I painted about 40 metal pallet jacks at an old job with this stuff and it doesn't come off easily. It looks really nice too! It's flat instead of glossy (if that's the type of finish you're going for). You won't have to worry about water getting on it or air bubbles.

This way, you're assured your edges will line up nicely and you won't have any weird spotty edges, like sometimes happen when using laminates, the edges are messy to align.

Parts Express has other options such as Melamine, Veneer, Vinyl & Tweed, and Vinyl Laminate. Check the left-bottom side under cabinet Coverings.
