Default Amazon Deal of Day - The Wire

The complete series of The Wire is the Amazon.com deal of the day for $81.99. I highly recommend this show, especially at this price for all 5 seasons. I'd prefer it on Blu-ray but don't know if that will happen since it wasn't shot in widescreen.

it was on HBO hd so it must have been shot widescreen.

It was shown 4:3 on HBO HD, meaning it had the black bars going vertical on the sides.

No, HD doesn't necessarily always mean widescreen. Plenty of Blu-ray releases for example have been 4:3.
The Wire was shot in 4:3 because the creators believe it gives the show a "claustrophobic" effect.

Yesterday was "The Extras", I hope they put both Sopranos seasons 6.1 and 6.2 blurays on sale for under 50. That would be sweet.

My guess is tomorrow is either the complete series of Sex and the City or The Sopranos on dvd. If they did a good deal on the Sopranos season 6 Blu-rays I'd consider picking them up.

Not available on Blu-Ray from some of the info I've seen, it is unlikely they will put on Blu as it was specifically shot in 4:3 SD as per the directors comments. If put on Blu, there may be a bit higher quality but, likely not enough for the additional cost.

Exactly what I'm hoping for - I held off on buying them when they were about $35 per volume. Here's hoping...

I jumped on this earlier today. I was just talking to the wife about renting this. At that price, its virtually the same as renting each disc. Can't wait.

Greatest show of all time, too bad I already own all five seasons on DVD. In total, it probably cost me over 200 bucks.
