The A9F has a new enhance built in audio, a true 3.2 channel system. As an added benefit the front center speaker can be disconnected from the built in amp and addressed via a pair of standard passive audio inputs in the rear of the TV. Just connect your audio receivers center channel to the TV's center input and the acoustic panel becomes your center speaker.

Very cool dual purpose audio system that can be used to best match your system and needs.

Before anyone says they want a high quality center channel I suggest listening to this as the dynamic range, and overall fertility is excellent.

I remember some TVs from many years back had the option to be used as the centre speaker for a surround system, I think it's a great idea. And the more "fertile", the better!

“Netflix support HDR, while the streaming service currently provides 400 hours of HDR content and 2,000 hours of 4K content.”

Pretty sure 300 of that HDR content is stand up comedy. Lol

Were they using the same chip and panel that they showed off at CES? That looked impressive but I think I’m done with Sony.

Just to add a comment on using the acoustic panel for the center speaker, it adds perfect imaging of the vocals.
Also the dynamic range was excellent, just imagine a center channel driver the size of a 65" TV.

690E, 720E,800E, 830F, 850F, 900F, A1E, Z9D, Z9F, A9F

Too many models out for Sony, this was Samsung’s issue the past 2 years. I know pretty much all the E models will be gone but by holiday season they will show the replacements for them

Also now they have 2 Z9F models. The soundbar and now the TV...

Can you ask about that? Lol

More on the acoustic panel. When you use the acoustic panel as the center speaker it uses all three L/C/R actuators and the dual subs as the center. It creates a big sound stage with a large dynamic tonal range.

The demo in the private room was impressive.

Try to find out if they have improved input lag Robert. That's one of the big issues with A1/AF8 today since they are slower than LG, Panasonic and Samsung. Now that they have

- New faster processor - X1 Ultimate
- Acoustic Surface Audio+
- eARC supported
- Netflix Calibrated Mode
- all four HDMI 2.0b ports are full-bandwidth
- 6-color, 3-axis CMS, white balance upped from 10 to 20 points
- Factory calibrated for white balance and uniformity
- HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision support
- Input lag??

- no HDMI 2.1 or variable refresh rate (VRR)

@Ant1010, no one at Sony will say the launch date or prices at this time. I expect end of September to early October for the A9F and Z9F.

@wesslan, Sony will not talk about the specs. We'll test input lag when I get our 1st allocation.

I loved everything I saw today about the A9F and spent a lot of time with the audio engineer who developed the new actuators and the addressable center channel design and how it operates. I also spoke in detail with the A8F and Z9F product managers and several of the technical specialists.

"HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision support"

Does this mean

HEVC-HDR10, HEVC-HLG and HEVC-Dolby Vision support

and

VP9-HDR10 (aka VP9-PQ) YouTube HDR and VP9-HLG YouTube HDR support?

Thanks

This is good news, but not enough for an upgrade for me:

- all four HDMI 2.0b ports are full-bandwidth
- 6-color, 3-axis CMS, white balance upped from 10 to 20 points

I'm afraid the MSRP is gonna sting on this one compared to the A8F. Also, after owning both, I won't have the lean back design again. Its beautiful, but the A8F design works better in my HT. The A1E is in the bedroom now, and it works fine in there leaning back.

Robert, I know it's not important, it's nothing to consider, it has no essence in today's world, but I ask anyway for people who live in the prehistoric ages: that new TV from Sony, it does not support 3D?

If not, what does?
