![]() ![]() Resurrected after 30 years, restored from the original 16mm negatives and available for rediscovery, Umbrella Entertainment presents Spirits of the Air, Gremlins of the Clouds, the debut feature from Alex Proyas for the first time on Blu-Ray and DVD. Set against an overwhelming desert landscape, Felix (Michael Lake) and Betty Crabtree (Rhys Davis) are an eccentric brother and sister living together in an isolated homestead in a post-apocalyptic era. Modern technology is absent, with wheels and gears operating a variety of broken devices to assist their struggle to survive. When they encounter a wandering stranger named Smith (Norman Boyd), their simple lives become tumultuous as the wheelchairbound Felix dreams of flying and Betty believes their new arrival to be a demonic presence - the characters all yearning for escape but seemingly do not know how. Worldwide Debut. |

Just watched this, a little too artsy for my taste but still I can appreciate the ingenuity that went into it, a really well done apocalyptic environment and plenty of christian symbolism (not fully understood I must admit). A great deal of extras and a very impressive detail from a 16mm source but unfortunately some poor compression from Umbrella has let them down once again...

Got my blu-ray today and watched without any problems whatsoever. Kept an eye out for what you mentioned and saw nothing of a kind. Really liked the movie. Just missing Garage Days and will have the complete works of Alex Proyas on blu-ray.

The same goes for the special feature "Spirits: Making a Post Apocalypse Western". It freezes after a couple of seconds. Oddly enough, when I put the Disc into my PANASONIC DMP-BDT381 MULTIREGION it works fine. Last edited by IlCorvo; 07-06-2021 at 06:43 AM. |
