Universal did the same thing with Cop and a Half 2. Why not release the blu-ray the same day as the dvd if they know that there will be a blu-ray? I know that some will say that they wanted to gauge sales first, but it seems like the sales would have been better if both the dvd and blu-ray were released on the same day.

Universal also did the same for their Blu-ray and UHD Blu-ray releases for Darkest Hour. The Blu-ray was released in February and the UHD Blu-ray in June.

This is on Netflix if anyone wants to try before they buy. My kids have watched it several times.

Ah, yes. We can't get Antz or Road to El Dorado on Blu-ray or a release of American Tail with a decent transfer, but Universal would gladly release this on Blu-ray before doing anything like that. Glad to see their priorities are completely straight.

To be fair, Universal didn't get Dreamworks Animated films until fairly recently so that's all a DA thing plus I wouldn't be surprised if Antz or El Dorado had problematic elements with them being older digital products so corruption and/or compatibility is going to be a potential roadblock or DA being lazy.

I have a suspicion this might be a MOD release. Kind of like the wont you be my neighbor one. It's not available at target and seems to have come out the same day. Anyone who owns the blu, can they verify this.

One positive thing to point to add about this (for those who don't like the film); if I'm correct after the film, a classic Woody Woodpecker short Niagara Fools plays probably making it the first classic Woody Woodpecker short on Blu-ray and in HD.

Both are far too recent for corruption to be a consideration. As for "compatibility", I can only assume you're referring to a quality consideration with the masters. Most studios have been mastering their films at 1080 since the late 90's. Since all previous DVDs for both films have been anamorphically encoded, one can only assume that these are no exception. Regardless, outdated masters have never stopped studios from releasing the title on BD at inferior quality before. That's even more true of their MOD releases or DMC in the case of Disney.

Played the dad’s fiancée, they did a decent job with how Woody looked though.
