I doubt this ever hits 4K although it is a really strong film. I have the steelbook from the UK.

Really hope this gets a release. I watched the 4K version on iTunes this week and the color was wonderful. HDR was very subtle but gave a nice boost to the low light photography. Unfortunately, the iTunes stream has worse banding than the LG BD (which itself is much worse than the excellent German release) so there was a bit of a trade-off compared to what I'm used to. Even with the compression flaws, this will be my go-to copy until a proper UHD disc. For the most part it was lovely.

This is 6.99 @ Vudu 4K Sale.

For me this is the best use of visual story telling film used in recent times.

I'll probably fold and grab this and upgrade my HDX copy to 4K.

I'm guessing when Glazers new Austerlitz film is closer to release there might be a bit more impetus for some of his previous work ending up on UHD? Birth especially I would love to see get more than a DVD release.

Really I think both Birth and Under The Skin I find a lot of what makes them classics for me is how heartfelt they are. Glazer isnt just aping Kubrickian style he does really have a very empathetic eye for his lead characters even if what happens to them is terrible. Both Johansson and Kidman I think are exellent playing into that with very subtle performances.

Not sure I'd agree with the idea that the scene of her looking in the mirror isnt sexual but I think its dramatically substantive, the idea she's becoming aware of her own body rather than it merely being a lure to prey. Ironically considering the fuss about the transexual film I'v seen it mentioned by a few trans women that they very strongly identified with her character in that respect.

Could be Criterion, A24 themselves, or considering the source a lionsgate release in a nice Steelbook.

While I don't want another weird packaging release like Midsommar, I still love that A24 did it.

I'm in for whatever they do and hope they release it themselves.

The streaming version just got a Dolby Vision upgrade, so this seems even more likely now...

Not sure what service you are looking at, but it's been Dolby Vision on itunes since the 4K first went up.

I definitely want this not just because its good horror. The 4K Dolby Vision stream on vudu looks freaking good. I can't even imagine how good it must look on a proper 4K disc. Would probably be reference qualtiy.
