Interesting. But I am not sure if a movie company want to invest immediately in this new technology. Blu ray is just beginning to make an impact at home and thier technology have not reach its full potential yet. Remember dvd is still running strong after 10 years, but it has reach it maximum potential already. It will be awhile before we see this HVD reach the consumers market. By that time, I think I will be on the holodeck....

Blu Ray will be around for a long time but if it gets wacked by something it will be this and not downloads. With a maximum storage of 3.9 Terabytes it will probably allow for uncompressed video, as well as uncompressed audio. With HVD it will be like going to the local cinema in terms of potential quality, although only a small number would actually be able to take advantage of the quality do to the financial resources you would have to invest in a home theater to get the actual quality availible on the discs.


Oh god should I stop buying Blu Rays now so I can start on my HVD collection. If by chance HVD becomes available to the average consumer I will be so damn old I will have coke bottle glasses and will have my hearing aid turned up to 11. For the next 15-20 years or so I will be blissfully enjoying my Blu Ray's!

To double dip a Blu Ray for another format would be totally insane. The PQ on a BR is already the PQ we want. This format is so out there not many wants to double dip HD with just a "little" better picture.

well sure, if it is more accurate, affordable and simpler than the current digital cinema masters that would be a great use for it... but there's always gonna be something charming about dust and the judder of film from a film projector
