Default Batman Begins

Review thread.

I want to know what most people think of this Blu-Ray.

I have the regular single-disc on standard DVD, got it for $5 used at Blockbuster, but seeing as how it's one of my favorite movies, and I like my movies to look as good as possible, I was thinking about throwing out my DVD and getting the Blu, seeing as how it's 16.99 in most places near me.

What do you guys think? Is this disc worth a spot in everyone's collection? Am I just wasting money in buying a movie I already have?

Definitely worth the upgrade. It's not the best disc, PQ wise, but the AQ is quite good. Overall, I wouldn't say it's a showcase disc, but it's definitely worth the upgrade if you even remotely like the movie.

The BD is much better than the DVD. You know, we do have reviews on blu-ray.com. Here is what the review says:
"Night scenes show good black level and adequate 1080p detail, far surpassing the DVD version. Since darkness and gradients of black are featured so prominently in the film and in Batman's accouterments, it becomes a necessity to resolve objects in night scenes. Here again, the BD does an adequate job, and many night scenes show good depth. Unfortunately, some life appears sucked out of the picture."

Well, the reviewer gave the PQ a 3.5/5, to me that's above average/good, but nothing really to brag about.

Batman Begins on Blu-ray is not of reference quality, and a 3.5 / 5 is very well deserving, and no more. It is, currently the best way to see it, so why not get the Blu-ray version?

It is no where near the quality of TDK. I don't care what anyone says on here. I've seen it for myself on 3 different screens, with many viewers, and we all came to the same consensus. BB much less detailed, and the grain is very prevalent (whether you consider this a good thing or bad thing is up to you, but it IS less detailed). Hell, it was a straight port from the HD-DVD disk, so it hasn't even been rendered for blu-ray. So basically, it CANT look as good as the other batman which was rendered for a 50GB disk.

It does look good though. Just not amazing. If someone came around, and wanted to see what Blu-ray looked like, BB would definitely not be the first movie I'd show them. Most all other movies in my collection (take a look) have better rendering than Batman Begins. I'd probably show the The Dark Knight first.

I have the BD. And the PQ is abobe average. Still have the DVD and the diff is very noticable!

If anything, just get for the sequences that take place in the snow and ice. They look awesome!!!!

I picked it up first day this is a great transfer not excellent, the audio is really good also. A major plus for you it has all the extras that were made for it awsome stuff, especially if you haven't seen any.

If you're going to buy the Dark Knight you might as well pick this one up too.

Everyone has already mentioned the video/audio, so I'll just add that it is also nice having the bonus features on the same disc as the movie, and not jumbled around a comic like on the 2 disc DVD.

I am having difficulty working out where the issues are here. You love the film, you already have it on DVD, you own a Blu-ray player.

The decision would seem simple to me. Your purchase is a few clicks away.
