Default Crunchyroll and original content

Ugg watch the trailer they mention nothing about the show (other than it has heart, whatever that means) and go on to tout their "diverse" writing staff of 100% white women.
I cancelled my CR subscription to send them a message They always say they help anime by returning money to the creators but now they're going to be using it for this crap, that's not what I signed up for. Personally I like anime because it's not PC, the last thing I want is a sanitized American PC version of it.

I'll still support Crunchyroll since they are still a positive influence for anime in the US. There are other ones that are much worse. Can't really blame them for trying original content when everyone else does it. Won't watch it but canceling your membership seems extreme but whatever. Maybe it would be better to support the service and just not watch it instead. The lack of streaming numbers would say a lot more I would think.

They're not trying to sell us a show.. they're trying to sell us political agenda.

If they just made a trailer for the series itself, I can guarantee the hate would be way less. There would still be people hating it, but not to this degree.

This ^^^ Just watch the trailer, nothing about the show all about the people behind it. If it's Crunchyroll's corporate owner behind it, they could care less about veiwership numbers, internet is all about subscriber growth so the only thing they will notice is subscriber cancellations. I like Crunchyroll's contributing to the Japanese anime industry so if they got extra sitting around it should go there to make better Japanese anime not woke faux American anime.

Tumblr: The Animation

This looks like Tumblr and DeviantArt had a baby together. Brutally honestly, this looks absolutely disgusting. They need to show more effort because the art looks irredeemable.

From the interview Kun Gao give to Variety:

https://variety.com/2018/digital/new...ce-1202912537/

Quote:
But while Japanese anime has turned Crunchyroll into a niche streaming success story, it has also limited the type of stories shown on the service. “Anime continues to be a domestic product for Japan,” Gao said. Japanese animators produce their shows first and foremost for Japanese audiences, addressing Japanese sensibilities.
At the same time, Gao and his team started to notice a growing group of fans on its service who were honing their own animation skills. “We are seeing creators who grew up on our platform,” he said. Now, the company wants to give some of those new voices a forum by producing their shows for a worldwide audience. Said Gao: “Their perspective is a more global perspective.”

From what i understand what they want is address all those fans that wanted anime to go for a more mainstream global audience and complain that Japan don't make the anime they want to see.
Because anime is and will be made with the Japanese audience in mind, they think only appealing to a niche audience that are fan of Japanese anime, would limit the sucess of Crunchyroll.

So they decided that if they don't get that kind of anime from Japan, they needed to make those animations for global mainstream audiences themselves.

From that, this means Crunchyroll will make this anime inspired animations to appeal to a different audience and grow.
What that mean to main core of the Crunchyroll audience, the anime fan, only the future will tell.

I'm 100% fine with the Japanese catering to their anime to them the Japanese. That is one reason I enjoy it so much. No different then how stuff like American Dad, Family Guy, Archer, Rick and Morty, and Futurama were cater to Western audiences.

I quit supporting this company a couple of years ago, when I realized they had no intention of fixing their Playstation app. The app has remained the same for over 6 years, but despite many people reporting problems, they haven't fixed them. This isn't a charity and people should not be browbeaten into giving them money because, "they give back money to the creators.' If they provide terrible service or invest funds into sketchy projects you don't agree with, then you should cancel your subscription. That's the only power we have as a consumer.

Let them lose a few thousand subs. Notice how fast they got that press release out about the html5 player for their site? They need to focus on the infastructure of their core business before branching into other ventures. Everything they've been touching lately is a disaster (Dan Machi game being censored even though they said it wouldn't). Then telling their consumers to learn Japanese if they wanted to play the uncensored version. Just sounds like an out of touch company that's headed towards disaster.

Since I got a Crunchyroll Streaming Membership less then a month ago,
I've removed 100's of dollars worth of Anime from existing per-orders.

I'll only be buying those titles I KNOW I'll want to hang onto (for years) and re-watch Multiple times.
There will be titles that fall through the cracks and will end up FOR SALE
but those will be far fewer then in the past

What's that have to do with the subject of this thread?

Crunchyroll and original content

Seems like it's covered under it to me...

If you disagree

And if I'm wrong

Tell me where should I put it (go ahead and say it, I did set myself up )
