I don't know if this 24p thing is actually what's wrong with it. I just tried it with my disc and even after turning 24p off on my Sony Blu-Ray player, the disc is still way out of sync. Anyone else not get it to work by turning off 24p?

I picked this up today, and I was aware of the sync issues people were having, but having watched hundreds of spaghetti westerns and giallos, I figured I could handle it.

However, I didn't notice any sync issues at all during my viewing of the film. I even watched it in 1080/24p. Perhaps I have a good copy or all those giallos have made me immune to watching anything out of sync.

Anyhow, this may be my favourite concert blu so far. Now I understand why Nirvana is so revered. It's amazing what they were able to do with just three instruments here. Such a full sound and intense performance. A powerful and yet professional live set. I think I will have to check out some of their other performances on DVD, since it's unlikely those will be released on Blu. Killer sound on this disc too - I watched it with the DTS-HD track and it felt like I was right there in the audience.

It's definitely a good concert. I only wish they would release the MTV Unplugged show on Blu-ray.

I would love this simply for the use of a lossless audio track. Reality is it was filmed on video, therefore negating any hi-def presentation.

I bought the BD on day 1 and have watched it many times and never saw any issues at all.

Oh that's sad info as I have dreamt of Kiss and Nirvana etc MTV Unplugged BDs. Thanks for the info though, but just to be precise, did they all got filmed in SD? Still would be amazing to get them with lossless tracks as you said.

The Super Bowl mishap wasn't MTVN's first experience with HD. It quietly tested HD in the early '90s. "We shot Unplugged in analog HDwith Aerosmith and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Youngback in 1992," he says. "We've been touching HD every few years since, including using it as a substitute for film on VH1 Storytellers."
Supposedly quite a few early episodes of Unplugged were shot in HD. Whether or not Nirvana's was among them, I have no idea.

I remember this. I interned for a company that shot Ratt unplugged with MTV in HD. (Did anyone see it? I don't think I ever did.) I was careful to state that the Nirvana show predated STANDARDIZED HD. It could be converted to current standards, but I am not really sure if the Nirvana show was one that was shot in analog HD or if it only exists on SD 1".

It's a strange situation - it's hard to believe that some discs in the print run are OK and others aren't. I wonder how many of those who claim the disc is out of sync came to that conclusion themselves or after reading about it on here (or Amazon).

I just took a look at my bluray i bought few years ago.
I use my computer (MPC-HC) hooked to my receiver to play discs and yes the sound is off (early) by around ~150ms
It seems consistent during the whole concert not only during close-up etc like mentionned in the review.

Probably all discs are this way but non-picky (most people) don't notice it. Especially because of the film motion blur.
Or because the 24fps/60fps stuff incidentally fix the issue for some people

It is a shame that such a nice presentation effort is tainted by a stupid disc authoring mistake.
