The measured space in my garage to build is 14'x21'. It has two walls that are cement/concrete block and the floor is blacktop so i will need to build over all three as well as construct two walls opposite. Any suggestions on which way it should face

If your asking which wall should the screen be on then I say on the 14ft wall. As far as which side of the 14ft wall well that depends on your door. Say your door is about 8 feet in on the 21ft wall then I'd put the screen on the wall opposite/furthest from the door. Don't want to be watching a movie and be distracted by people walking in and out of your theater.

Thanks, yeah i figd. 14' wide and 21' front to back building the rack @ the back of the room with the projector in the top of it with an access door @ the back of it. I may need to ceiling mount it depending on the one i get vs. it's throw range.

Since your floor is blacktop I would build another floor on top of it say 4-6 inches high and definitely soundproof it. Also stadium seating. I did that in my old house. I had the front row on the floor and the back row about 12" higher. Worked out great. Good luck with your project and don't forget to post pics of your progress.

That's the plan just not fully sure how cuz it's not exactly level, i guess start with something against the two block walls mounted level like say some floor joists/seals and build outfrom there.

Depending on how much off the floor is they make this stuff. Can't remember what it's called. It's for if your floor is slightly hiher on one end. You basically pour it and it is self leveling. I saw it on a home improvement/diy show. They may know at Lowes or Home Depot.

SandmanX (Ruben) built a fabulous home theater in his garage in Florida. He documented his build in this epic thread at AVS: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...light=sandmanx
Take a look in that thread for some great ideas/tips on how to build a theater in a garage. |
