The Great Santini - Blu-ray Forum

I haven't thought about The Great Santini (1979) in a long time, but this is definitely one film I would like to see brought out on blu-ray. Growing up in a military family, this movie really resonated with me when I first saw it on cable in the late 1980s.

In a career of great performances, I would rank this and Tender Mercies as my favorite Robert Duvall films, even more than his westerns and other better known movies. Duvall plays a U.S. Marine aviator named Bull Meecham who loves the corps and is a renowned fighter pilot. The film contrasts his success as a warrior wtih his failings as a husband and father, and is told from the perspective of his son. Very good acting from the entire cast with a moving story. Hope we see this soon.

I noticed a High-Def version of this at a Street Fair. Is there an Import or Streaming of this?

It would be a great addition to WAC. I have an ancient DVD that is non anamorphic.

Love this movie have the 4:3 DVD. Wish they would release a remastered BD!

I found a supposed Import (likely a Boot) at a street fair in the Bay Area. Widescreen, nice looking... maybe it was from a Stream Source like Amazon Prime. Or maybe they're planning on releasing it soon.

I saw this movie once and definitely want this Blu-ray in the future. Robert Duvall is hilarious tough character.

Warner Archive Collection... what are you waiting for?
