Captain Marvel will be released on REGION FREE 3D Blu-ray worldwide except in America where it will only be released in 2D, so 3D-loving Americans will have to import it e.g. from the UK, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong etc:

Every single Blu-ray of this film, 2D and 3D, wherever you buy it from, will be REGION FREE. It is currently unknown whether IMAX scenes will be included.

Imdb shows, like many other Marvel movies, an IMAX aspect Ratio for some Scenes:

1.90 : 1 (IMAX version: some scenes)
2.39 : 1

Nice to see, that every new Marvel movie has an IMAX aspect Ratio.
This makes the 3D much more intense :-)

Looking Forward for a 3D Blu-ray with the IMAX Scenes!

It's underwhelming to me. Here's hoping the movie is great, but after a first look I'm not sure they should have cast Brie Larson. Who knows, I guess time will tell. This is the first Marvel movie in a while that didn't get me excited after the first trailer

Having Sam Jax with CGI Face for the entire movie could be very distracting...

Ant-man didn’t get me excited so I skipped it at the cinema (only marvel film I did this for). Got it on 3D blu-ray and loved it. Learned my lesson. I now have complete faith in marvel and will go watch every one of their movies.

Ant Man and the Wasp 3D not only has strong 3D throughout the whole movie pretty much, but also was very entertaining with cool martial arts, action and plenty of adventure. I liked it more than the first movie and one of my favorites of 2018.

But on topic, Brie Larson was good in Kong Skull Island.
This was a very subdued, mysterious trailer that didn't make a lot of sense. More like a teaser trailer not showing what this character is all about or the action or villains. It makes people wonder what's up, but not always the best way to introduce a movie.

Even so, this could have potential, but not sure what to expect yet from it. Hopefully another strong Marvel 3D conversion.

Before 2.0 3D in theaters this weekend, they showed the Marvel 3D trailer of Captain Marvel. From what they showed, it looks like an impressive range of medium to strong 3D layering, leaning towards a solid 3D film conversion on par with Marvel's best 3D. I'll definitely check it out in 3D theaters.

For all the complaining about Disney, they are the one company still putting out quality 3D products (Marvel, LucasFilm, Pixar, etc.) in Bluray format. Hopefully Cap Marvel is no exception!

The one company? Warner Brothers might disagree with you there, for one. Seems like everything I am buying is from Warners these days.

It's probably more Marvel, Lucasfilm and Pixar that we have to thank for Disney 3D, not Disney themselves. When it comes down to Disney's own stuff we get big FU's like Ralph Breaks the Internet

Warner may disagree but I would not describe the Warner efforts as “quality” especially relative to the ones from the studios I referred to, which are definitely superior 3d quality just based on the views in these very boards.

And make no mistake, Disney corporate (aka the company) has final say on everything, so if they decide no 3D, LucasFilm, Marvel, & Pixar would be SOL. Thank you Disney for not nixing the 3d Bluray even though we know you easily could!

Hopefully Marvel film distribution in other countries continues for blu ray 3D so they can be imported at least, since Disney shut off the option in the US.

So Captain Marvel takes place in the 1990s I believe.

That is correct.
I will also be checking this out in 3D reallllly hope there will be an IMAX 3D showing here. I for one am excited for this movie.

I know many aren't feeling Brie as Captain Marvel but i say give her a chance, these are just trailers.
90% of the time marvel has been spot on for their casting. Especially for the main roles.

I would not describe Pixar's use of 3D as superior to that seen in The Fantastic Beasts movies, for example. Or even to that seen in The Meg.

Thankfully Marvel seem to be more adventurous with their 3D these days so I'm sure Captain Marvel will look outstanding in 3D and I too will be thanking Disney if/when they release it on 3D Blu-ray.

I disagree based on the 2 studios’ latest efforts: Pixar’s Incredibles 2 has garnered better reviews for its 3D than The Meg.

I don't care about reviews, I've seen them both. Pixar's 3D is natively rendered but their use of depth and pop-out in Incredibles 2 didn't strike me as superior to that employed by the team that converted The Meg.

Marvel's early conversions were often weak but improved notably to the point where they started to really impress - that said, Warners are matching them now with Fantastic Beasts the evidence of that, hopefully Aquaman will step it up too. The more spectacle these studios bring to 3D the better, I say. Captain Marvel can't fail to be pure eye candy in 3D.

I don’t care about reviews either and based on my viewing the 3D in The Meg was not “superior” to Incredibles 2. And for what it’s worth, the majority of the critical 3D connoisseurs on these very boards would echo that sentiment.

Bottomline, 3D aficionados should be thanking Disney for these quality 3D discs.

I didn't say it was superior, I said Pixar's wasn't superior. I rate them about the same. You and others are free to disagree of course but in any case this has nothing to do with Captain Marvel so let's leave it there, otherwise I'll have to shift all this off-topic discussion elsewhere, like the Incredibles 2 or The Meg threads.

Agreed. 3D fans should be thankful Disney continues to allow quality 3D blurays and I think Cap Marvel will be no exception!
