They could have trimmed down that 25 minutes to like 10 seconds of the screen just saying the Xbox One reveal Microsoft never recovered no matter how many things they tried to backtrack on and Sony were handed this gen on a silver platter unfortunately. Sony did nothing special at all. While they have had a few AAA gems I miss the Sony that had to try a lot harder from the last gen delivering a much more diverse and constant first party library. Would love sequels to smaller games like Puppeteer that they can't be bothered with now that they don't need to try this gen. Sadly I don't see Microsoft ever bouncing back to light that fire under Sony either since they are still doing **** all with their first party library which is the only way they can compete.

Valid points, though Sony did a lot right, where Microsoft chose to do things wrong in the eyes of gamers. Sony allowed discs and resale of games, MS wanted online only games. But you're right, the initial reveal is where MS lost a ton of credibility among many gamers.

Honestly Nintendo are in their own little bubble of the industry so I don't think Sony or Microsoft are really focused on what they do. Unlike Sony and Microsoft fighting over the same market which was very close last gen but this gen Sony have decimated Microsoft.

That being said it seems highly unlikely that Switch will be near the PS4 in sales. Switch sales have already tapered off a bit while PS4 looks to be on pace to be the second highest selling console ever behind the PS2 unless the PS5 drops sooner than expected. But that would have to be like summer of 2019 soon and we won't see that Even then PS4 sales wouldn't completely die off when PS5 comes out so even an early PS5 release might not stop it from second. PS4 should pass the 360 and PS3 by the end of this year and then be less than 20 million behind the Wii and PS1 while selling 20+ million a year. So the Switch would have to top the Wii and the Wii did what it did because it became a fad with non-gamers (I mean how many of you also had relatives that have criticized you as a gamer but bought a Wii? ) which isn't a market the Switch is really pulling in. They tried with the Labo but that has flopped big time and honestly I don't see a console fad ever happening again that pulls in the non-gaming market like the Wii did. It truly was a unique phenomenon and as much as I hated the Wii you have to give them props for the timing of that and pulling it off.

And of course with the Switch there would always be the handheld or console argument no matter how it sells. On the handheld side it is hard to see it getting too high up the handheld rankings either. At best I see the Switch finishing in the PS3 and 360 range for consoles and the PSP and GBA range for handhelds. But even for that it will have to start picking up momentum again and maintain it. Obviously Nintendo also won't be able to ditch it as fast as they ditched the Wii U.

Hahaha that is so true. It's kinda sad that to this day I still love my 360 but have zero desire whatsoever to pick up an xbox one x one x x one whatever they're calling it. Talk about microsoft dropping a shotput right on their own nads.

Exclusives are king and sony had them all this time around, focus on games and not a terrible user interface like Microsoft did and you'll sell consoles. Xbox 360 was awesome, not sure what happened this time.

I'll tell you this now though.

Next Gen is going to be close, MS won't make the same mistakes twice. If they can claw back some ground on the exclusives front....oh boy.

The best thing is, having both pushing the boundaries makes up for a better experience no matter what platform you play on

If PS5 is fully backwards compatible, i.e. runs games from disc or allows you to download them again, then surely the majority of existing owners will stick with PlayStation, why start all over again by switching to Xbox? Especially if they add a boost mode to improve frame rates, etc.

Personally I'll be going Sony again, I've been with them since the start and they've always offered the best range of games and without doubt the best exclusives.

Been there since the ps1 and I've owned every system but I'm not too proud to admit Xbox kicked the playstations ass last gen. Sony redeemed themselves though.

I always buy both....this Gen PS has been my go to, but I was firmly a 360 lad last gen....which is where I really cut my teeth as a gamer, so Xbox will always be close to my heart.

But over the years I have split fairly evenly between the two.

I'm level 15 (I think) on the PS and have over 77k (I think) gamerpoints on the Xbox

I’ve seen other YouTube videos by that same creator before. I like to think of him as a PS Access type channel because his content is solely PlayStation.

While nothing he said isn’t inaccurate, I did notice the gaps missing in improvements the Xbox team made (& continue to make) that he left out. So watch with bias in mind. Alls I’m saying about that video.

PS5 & Scarlet are gonna test gamers once again like MS tried to pull back in 2013. Crossplay & Streaming & Subscriptions will decide who you vote for with your cash for next gen gaming. My theory is whichever company pushes less on these subjects will be the victor. I don’t think “all” gamers are ready to accept this. A little less than 50% of PlayStation users have PS Plus. I believe Xbox live has a higher ratio of active users.

Will be interesting to see both presentations again. 2K-4K/60fps should be standard while streaming performance will vary but die-hard console owners will likely opt for the HDD versions.
