They were told they could buy 10 copies, but took all copies to the self-check area.

In all, Red Box associate bought all 121 copies of Solo, every single one.

They also apparently bought all the DVDs, I didn't see any of those around either.

Is this legal? Isn't there supposed to be a Waiting Period for rentals per the Studios?
I'm honestly surprised the employee actually had an answer for you. On the bright side, now he knows what happened and can hopefully prevent it from happening again.

I went to Target last night and this morning and STILL no 4K copies. So I gave up and went to Best Buy, but I really liked the Target exclusive.

About the look of the film, Bradford Young's work is intentional, he works in a very low key, underexposed style. Usually his work is excellent, but I guess it didn't work for many folks on this one. Those stills though look really ugly just like they always do here, don't know why.

Nah I just got the regular 4K, I have Force Awakens and Last Jedi in steelbook so I’ll be getting Episode 9 in steelbook when that comes out.

I would’ve gotten this in steelbook if I also had the Rogue One steelbook but oh well, I always really wanted the Target version anyways.

I have all the other ones in steelbook, except R1 and Solo. Want both, but on a budget right now. I got the Target exclusive which looks great.

I can’t remember if you mentioned where you were born in PMs or even your age lol. Obviously the 77 in my SN is my birth year.

On a side note I wouldn’t call myself a hardcore Star Wars fan but to me they are movies you need in your collection. I realize the true trilogy without the changes are not on Blu Ray & how the prequels are dispised. I do however enjoy The Last Jedi minus the casino scene & wasted Benicio Del Toro character. I’ve enjoyed all 4 of the newer SW films, go figure.

Wow, the round table discussion is fluffy as hell. It has the feel of a publicist-scripted press junket event. Looking forward to enjoying the remaining extras more.

I enjoyed that. Of course it's fluffy. It was well orchestrated (not scripted) and rather cosy. But the alternative is to have the eight people all shouting over each other. The sentiments expressed by the people involved were all genuine and worth listening to.

Edit: I watched it again and enjoyed it even more. It's not even that fluffy. It does feel a tiny bit of an odd set-up, like it's a substitute for a press junket. But the camaraderie is authentic and pleasing.

Rewatched it last night, movie holds up well although it wasn’t as much fun as it was the first time around in theaters. Still easily my favorite of the current era of Star Wars movies.

BD looked pretty good FWIW. I can understand why people complain about it being too dark, but frankly I dig that look and it was never dark to the point of obscuring anything vital. Having said that, God help anyone who watches this in 3D.

Audio wasn’t Atmouse but it sounded better than Black Panther and Last Jedi, at least to my non-audiophile ears.

The 3D looks fine mate, no issues with brightness whatsoever. I didn't have to adjust my settings or anything and the visual look of the movie didn't once hamper the 3D experience for me.

I don't think it's legal. Disney has been taking RedBox to court over this for years. It most recently heated up when RedBox began selling digital copy codes. Read more here.

hahaha. I knew that RedBox was in court over selling digital codes (I do this as an individual, and I can still easily see how they're in the wrong with that). I had no idea they take their disc copies from retail shelves though. That's so hilariously sketchy.

Well that explains why Disney branded movies are available to rent the same as street date. I always thought it was at least a month after release the movies can be rented. I don’t see the issue about selling the codes, not like they’re actually “free.”

Your guy at big box store is full of it. Walmart has a restriction of 2 copies and it is in their system. Register says no if you try and buy 3 you need approval and employee to punch in code. So the only way someone could do that is if they were allowed to do that. Then employee who allowed is on the hook .... just sayin ....

Obviously I don't know if it's true or not. But I'm sure someone could easily bring a cart to a self-checkout and just do two copies at a time. If the system is programmed to not allow multiple purchases of a limited item with the same credit card (I'd doubt that though), then they can just use cash.

No Cash, imagine feeding $2400.00 into one of those things? Big Box employees are also well aware of Redbox and they stop them if they try to walk off with a cart of movies or even 4. Employees gets a little suspicious as well if one person stays at a check-out for an hour buying 100 movies 2 at a time. Trust me, I know a guy .... Redbox ain't the only game in town either. There are also other places like Family Video which rent movies and buy them off the rack.

End thread de-rail. Loved Solo, it's now my favorite new Star Wars Story. Also finally picked up (again long story) the Complete Saga (Vader Cover) as I was in a Star Wars kinda mood. Found it at a good price used/mint at FYE's and had a 40% off coupon. Mint except for a corner of the case which had a hole cracked in it. Had a spare 25mm 7 disc Viva Elite case and just moved the 9 disc trays into that.

I was hoping the UHD PQ would be an improvement compared to the theater, but it wasn't. The dark and color-desaturated look of the movie didn't suit the mostly fun action/adventure subject matter. This is certainly something I wasn't expecting from Ron Howard. This will most likely be a one-time view and set on the shelf disc.

As a user of Redbox I'm all in favor of them gaining access of BD's so I can rent them for $2 a night. Shame that as a result some people end up finding it harder to grab a physical copy but I guess that's just more incentive to pre-order or better yet upgrade to 4K UHD.

Disney could make all this moot by just selling the discs to them at a reasonable rate.
