Verizon Trade in device

Question,

If you trade in your old phone, do you get monthly credits over 24 months or do you get a verizon giftcard? I traded in my iPhone 7 Plus online and got a giftcard that will be applied to my verizon account.

I always thought it would just be spread out over 24 months. So now I was expecting my bill to be lower but now it will not be but the gift card will cover my bill for 2 and half months.

I called in and spoke to a manager but there is nothing they can do.

the last time i upgraded, i got a credit on my account. they asked me how i wanted the money from trading in my old phone; i asked if they could just do a credit to the account for the amount. they said yes, so i did that instead of getting a gift card that i would use on the account, anyway.
