Default Netflix's The Chronicles of Narnia Series

C.S. Lewis coming to Netflix:

Quote:
The Chronicles of Narnia Universe to Be Explored in Netflix Series and Films

Netflix already has a (teenage) witch, and now it’s adding a wardrobe.

The streaming giant announced on Wednesday that under the terms of a multi-year deal with The C.S. Lewis Company, it will develop “classic stories from across the Narnia universe” into TV series and films. The deal marks the first time that rights to the entire seven books of the Narnia universe have been held by the same company.

Mark Gordon, Douglas Gresham and Vincent Sieber will serve as executive producers for the series and as producers for features.

“C.S. Lewis’ beloved Chronicles of Narnia stories have resonated with generations of readers around the world,” Netflix CCO Ted Sarandos said in a statement. “Families have fallen in love with characters like Aslan and the entire world of Narnia, and we’re thrilled to be their home for years to come.”

“It is wonderful to know that folks from all over are looking forward to seeing more of Narnia, and that the advances in production and distribution technology have made it possible for us to make Narnian adventures come to life all over the world,” said author C.S. Lewis’ stepson, Douglas Gresham. “Netflix seems to be the very best medium with which to achieve this aim, and I am looking forward to working with them towards this goal.”

So hopefully, theoretically, no more than 10 episodes a season and one book per season. Though "classic stories from across the Narnia universe" sounds like it's going to be new stuff created from existing side stories.

As a fan of the movies, I was disappointed we didn't get more. Maybe they can start with The Magician's Nephew so we get something new?

I'm with you there. Nothing worse than remaking, and running out of steam and not or just covering the material already covered. Like that pathetic Tommorrow When the War Began TV series that covered the exact arc of the movie, but in a slow more boring lower budget version.

thankfully this go round, since I'd assume this will be filmed in one huge one chunk, the child actor's won't outgrow their roles as they did with the Disney movies.

My father would read this to me and my sister at bedtime... this series will always have a special place in my heart.

Hopefully the series will stick closer to the books.

I'm on the fence about this, since I really enjoyed the three Narnia films made by Disney and Fox. I wanted a continuation of that with The Silver Chair, not a reboot of the whole thing.

Probably not actually. Especially if they plan to do the entire series. They are still children actors and need time off of production.

This has even been a problem with Netflix's A Series of Unfortunate Events with the kids growing, they've already tried shortening the time between seasons 2 and 3 as much as they can and we still haven't gotten even a trailer for that.

To be fair, they only need the Pevensies as kids and preteens for TLTW&TW, Prince Caspian, and Dawn Treader... and Eustace for Dawn Treader and The Silver Chair, and The Last Battle, with Jill Pole in the last 2. And it's not like they took place right after each other anyway, so as long as they could at least film a season once a year to year and a half apart, they wouldn't age out of the roles too badly. The Magician's Nephew and The Horse and His Boy and could even be filmed concurrently with other season/books if they wanted to since they wouldn't have the same actors, except maybe the adult Pevensies from the end of TLTW&TW making a cameo in Horse.

I don't think there's any updates to have really, all they had said was Netflix acquired rights, so they still have to develop and adapt them.
