Default No more Panny talk, bought the Kuro

$1929.06 total cost...shipped for the 5020.

Now the hard parts...

1) Waiting for it to arrive.

The 5020 really is very very tempting, but the extra 8" of the 58" 800U is just as tempting. I might have to go for size on this one.

yeah I would take the 58" 800u over the 5020, in fact I would take any size 800u over the 5020 since that model from Panasonic beat out the base model pioneer last year.

Well I would have been happy to buy a Panasonic if they stood behind their products.

I have a $2700 paper weight that has a Panasonic name on it so I will never purchase another item with their name.

I actually through out Panasonic batteries that were not used.

Sorry but they get nothing from me ever again, nor does Chevy.

But that is personal preferance.

...surviving the wrath of the wife.

I bought a 58 inch plasma when my wife was vacationing in Portugal.

When she got back, I covered my ass by claiming that it was a present for her! Not only was she OK with that, all my neighbours think I am a really nice guy for having bought her such a nice present.

I think you'll survive.

You will be amazed by the Pioneer 5020. Excellent work my friend! Oh and once the wife sits down to watch her favorite Blu-ray, she'll forget what she was mad about! Pioneer has that affect on people...

They do, which is why they are the #1 plasma manufacturer on this planet.

Well after 13 months when my Panny broke they did not care...then 11 months after that she was 100% DED.

Maybe they have changed but screw me once...they lose out.

They are #1 because they are cheapest and have good quality screens. Does not mean they stand behind their products.

As I said...they did not stand behind the one I bought...so I won't buy anything else of theirs.

If you have good luck...I wish you the best with your product from them.

I am going the route of Sony and Pioneer because neither has failed me.

Same here. I just made the exact same purchase. #2 did not go too bad...I'm just afraid at what she will buy now.

I'm pretty sure Samsung has the cheapest MSRP's on plasma.
I'm sorry your plasma crapped out on you and you didn't receive any help, that really sucks.
Panny plasma's and LCD's have an average 2% repair rate, failure is less than that.

That's a great deal. Now while struggling with #1, for your own sake buy as many of your wife's favorite movies in BD as possible. Hopefully by the time she's done watching them all you're forgiven.
