Amazon

This is streaming for free on Amazon Prime. It's a nice widescreen print. Other than some occasional minor print damage, and the usual Amazon compression, it looks really good. The opening logo is Multicom Entertainment Group. I don't know if it's the same transfer as the BD, but like I said, it looks good. Enjoy!

Nostalgic movie from late 1980s Sky/Super-channel night shows on Finnish cable.

US BD looks a bit harsh, so have been waiting other editions. Is there any information about Germany release?

It's almost 2022. Any news of another edition of MUTANT that isn't a smoothed-over mess? The 4k transfer exists, we know that. Has any other company picked it up, in order to do a proper, non-DNR'd to oblivion encode? MUTANT would look quite fabulous if not devoid of its natural filmic grain, as the 4k master seems to be in wonderful shape. Perhaps I misunderstood and that 4k remastered transfer has the DNR cooked-in, which would mean any other releases by other companies of that master would also be DNR crap shows?

Regarding DNR, it depends on what master is being provided to whoever released it. These days film is scanned in a RAW format. The files are huge and the image often has little contrast and no color correction.

Rumor has it Severin will be re-releasing Mutant. They've been on a Multicom reissue kick lately.

Is there such a thing as cooked-in DNR? I hope not.

Definitely a fun flick. Hoping it gets lucky enough to see a uhd release sooner than later. I think it might be my favorite Wings Hauser flick. He's relatively solid in The Wind (1986), also.

Besides being waxy and smooth, the number one thing that got me was the super washed out Blu gray look. Was that the original look?
