What's good. This is my first time using this forum, and as I need some info about the Samsung BD-P1200, I figured this would be the best place to turn. My question is this: The BD-P1200 offers no decoding for Dolby True HD and DTS HD MA. This is not a problem for me, as it does offer HDMI 1.3, which can pass both audio formats. I recently purchased an Onkyo TX-SR605, which offers decoding for both. Will the player pass this signal over the HDMI? I have read every review I can find and they either completely disregard this option or they say that updates will follow (they haven't yet). I'm interested in this player for the fact that it doesn't offer decoding for these formats. I want it to pass the undecoded format to the receiver. I didn't buy my receiver just to have the player do the work. Any help anyone can offer would be great.

The 1200 does not pass those two audio formats over HDMI. The player is allegedly capable of doing it but would need a firmware upgrade to enable that feature. No one knows if Samsung will ever enable that.

I have also heard that about the BD-P1200, that currently it cannot pass TrueHD. I would hope that a firmware upgrade can fix this. Within the past year I bought my HDTV (Mitsubishi WD-Y57) and my BD-P1200. All I need now is a receiver that can handle HDMI 1.3 and 7.1 sound. But I am holding off on the receiver until I hear about firmware upgrades to the BD-P1200.

Thanks for the info. This is holding me back from buying a Blu ray player. Hopefully Samsung will release a firmware upgrade to allow it to do this. What would my best option be for using either format? CoachD the Onkyo is a great reciever and it has the features you are looking for. Not to mention performance to dollar ratio. Thanks again.
