In what may be a first for a Disney release, there is not a 3D Blu-Ray available for Pre-Order in the UK. It could be announced later, but at the moment this seems encouraging for a 4K release to be announced in the UK (I hope).

Same thing happen with A Wrinkle In Time. But if I remember correctly, the UK only got a DVD release for that movie. Regardless, not looking good for a 3D Blu-ray release of Nutcracker.

Does anyone really expect Disney 3D releases in the US anymore? Can't even remember the last one we got, was it Guardians 2? (Which wasn't even a wide release.)

Nope, we definitely don’t expect Disney 3D releases in the US. We (3D fans) have accepted that Disney has completely abandoned the Blu-ray 3D format in the US. However, they have been consistently releasing 3D discs in many other country. I’ve personally imported about 10 Disney 3D discs (all region-free) since Guardians Vol. 2, which was Disney’s last US 3D disc.

I really hope they will release a 3D disc of this movie somewhere. The 3D in the trailers looks excellent.

Last two sort of wide releases -- Doctor Strange and Moana

DS was in short supply quickly everywhere except DMC. Moana probably just didn't sell as well, but was around for several months though appears to have been OOS at Amazon since late 2017 except 3rd Parties. Moana is still available throung Disney Movie Club

Guardians V2 3D was only available in the 4K/3D Steelbook at Best Buy and in apparently tiny numbers that sold out very quickly.

Remember, Christopher Robin had a 4K pre-order and what not before it got scrubbed. So it very well could happen to this release as well.

That's the point Disney is now missing (and they're not alone), good 3D can add value/interest to the most mediocre of films; they know this theatrically of course, but apparently are starting to forget that it also applies to home releases.
With a 3D edition (even if it had to be limited in number or by territory), for what looks to be a pretty good 3D experience (they already invested in the conversion after all), they would have customers (probably several thousand globally) buying this title who otherwise have no reason to pick it up!
