Default What scares you?

Well, with the way the world is today I was just wondering, what scares you? I mean is it being raped, being shot, being suffocated, ghosts, flying, etc.

No... I'm not a serial killer or anything but I am going to be writing a horror script and I am just wondering what it is that people are the most scared of. I know the answers will be different than say 10 years ago so let's just see what we can come up with...

Myself, I am petrified of my eyes and anything going near it. You can stab me before you can go near my eyes. No eye drops, no contacts, none of that. If I see a scene where a knife is near an eye I get squeemish, but when I see a scene of someone being disembowled I'm fine.

So let's hear yours...

1. Something happening to my loved ones (see "Taken"... far fetched but just the thought of something like that is about the worst thing I could possibly think of)
2. Crazy people - Seriously... there's not much that's scarier than people who aren't acting like people should act... just spooky as heck...
3. Needles... no explaination... I'll watch someone's arm/head get hacked off with nary a shudder, but make me watch someone getting poked by a needle and I freak... Case in point... We just watched Saving Private Ryan last week and my wife was watching through her fingers... Tonight we watch House and they're putting an IV in... I'm the one who has to look away... go figure?!
4. Not being able to see what's under me in the water - I love water and watersports. I will swim all day in the river or the pool. I go kneeboarding with my buddies up at the lake. But the time when I fall off the kneeboard to the time my buddies circle around and come back with the boat is creepy. I hate just floating there and not being able to see what's underneath me. Same thing with the ocean when I went snorkling... I was looking ahead but couldn't see behind... my leg brushed up agianst a rock and I nearly shat myself. LOL... there's even some video games that I'm gunshy about venturing into the water in!

But to really answer this the first thing that pops into my mind is falling from high places. I know it sounds like I'm scared of heights but its wierd. When I'm up there i always wonder how it would feel if I dropped. When I play games and I happen to fall from skyscrapers or somewhere high my stomach goes up to my throat. I don't go near Roller Coaster no matter how much fun it looks

Being all alone with nobody to talk to. Locked in a room all by myself with nothing to do nothing to see, just nothing. *shudder* I'm entirely too active and always need to be doing something, I would go insane just sitting there having to stare at a blank wall.

Sort answer? The ocean. Freaks the hell out of me. I still go in it, but deep water is the bane of my existence. Also all of the accessories that come with it, drowning, crashing into it in a plane, sharks, the usual.

Also serial killers out in the country. My wife is from a small town and it freaks me out that they dont lock their doors sometimes.
