Thinking about it this morning, Sony still has several IP's in their stable they are doing nothing with. Are there any that you would love to see make a return next gen? Here's my list...
1.) Motorstorm: Sony needs an answer to MS' stellar Forza Horizon series and I think Motorstorm is the perfect candidate. This series was so damn good on PS3, suffering mostly from oversaturation with 2 sequels and one PSP version. But even the PSP game Arctic Edge was really good! I know Evolution Studios no longer exists, but Sony could give this to another studio. I missed having a version of this on PS4 and I'd love to see them bring it back to full glory on PS5. 2.) Syphon Filter: Now that Metal Gear is pretty much done, there's a void for a single player stealth/action game. I've always loved the Syphon Filter series (especially the PSP version) and think it deserves a new iteration. The thought of a big budget Syphon Filter game with the power of the PS5 behind it, tickles my jimmies! 3.) Mod Nation Racers: After Mario Kart and maybe Crash Team Racing, this may be the best kart racer to come out. The level of customization in this game was incredible and it had some very nice forward-thinking mechanics. The loading times were painfully long, but the online was fun as hell and it had some great track design. This would be a great F2P game with the Fortnite microtransaction model! Sony please bring this great game back on PS5! 4.) Little Big Planet: Yes I know Media Molecule is busy with Dreams, but it would be a damn shame if Sony let this IP slip into obscurity. LBP is a solid IP and while part 3 was a step down from 1 and 2, this can still be a great IP in the right hands. Sony, don't forget about this game! 5.) Warhawk: I personally thought this was such an underrated game on PS3. I enjoyed quite a bit. This could be another game that could flourish in the F2P model as well. |

My biggest pet peeve about PS4 was Sony allowing a LittleBigPlanet game to be made by someone other than Media Molecule. Not only are the first 2 incredibly amazing in concept & execution, they were also some of the most fun I had on PS3. It was never really a frustrating struggle playing those 2 games. It was plain ol’ fun EVERY SECOND with controller in hand! LittleBigPlanet 3 was (and still is) glitchy as f#ck and a right disastrous mess when it comes to trying to play with others. And the whole HUB LEVEL design caused a fair number of headaches as well. It was still fun, but it didn’t keep me coming back for more because there was such a poor quality assurance check done on it before it released.
So... THAT is my biggest want when it comes to reviving an IP on the upcoming gen console. A proper LBP made by Media Molecule! ![]() |

Syphon Filter, with bigger, more open levels would be cool on PS4 and PS5. Sony Bend went with Days Gone though, which I might check out, but the delays aren't helping them as I start to lose a little interest in the game, considering waiting for a price drop maybe.
And have the original voice actor back as Gabe Logan in Syphon Filter. And the original musician. Those music tracks kicked @ss. |

Just from the list here I'd like to see:
Mod Nation Racers: I had a blast with the original. It was just a fun game to play around with and the racing was pretty spot on. SSX Tricky: I played that game so much that even my wife know I was doing a power move when music started playing My number one would be a remaster of The Legend of Dragoon. To this day it's still one of my favorite games. |

Syphon Filter is probably my #1 dormant franchise from PS1 i'd like to see remade and brought fully into the PS5 era with all the bells and whistles it will afford. PS5 could do really great with a stealth action game exclusive to the PS family. It could be a much more action oriented return to the likes of Splinter Cell mixed with a touch more action sequences.
Syphon Filter and MGS were unique in that you could do a full stealth approach or guns to the wall. SSX Tricky is an okay shout out but not sure how many would really buy it outside a small scale digital release. Cool Boarders is also another PS exclusive though no? I think a Warhawk sequel in a Battle Royale vein would do incredibly well. F2P model with ground and air combat. Ships with skins and character skins to buy for those interested but also earnable. Think there's a great plethora of PS exclusives that would work well in todays world but certain PS exclusives i'd like to see updated are 3rd party owned or possibly not financially incentivised enough for Sony. Love to see a Dark Cloud remake for example. |

A new Soul Reaver on PS5 (Crystal Dynamics-developer) with Michael Bell as the voice of Raziel again, but set in a full open world this time, not the more linear paths of the original games.
And get the original music group Information Society to create another amazing sound track as this was for Soul Reaver 1. That would be pretty awesome. The fanbase for the Soul Reaver series started to fade years later unfortunately, with slower sales, as Crystal D suggested awhile ago, when asked if they'd reboot the Soul Reaver series. Soul Reaver 2 was good, but it couldn't quite match the genius of the first game. Plus I really preferred those sharper PS1 graphics believe it or not, to the blurrier PS2 graphics. Soul Reaver and Legacy of Kain never made it to PS3 or PS4. It's been too long. |
