Default Does anyone have any suggestions for a region free dvd player?

I am trying to buy a region free dvd player for my grandparents. I guess a region free blu-ray player works too. They only watch chinese soap operas and t.v. shows that are dvd. They are only looking to spend around $30-50. They don't own any blu-rays. Located in Texas, United States of America. Their t.v. is a widescreen maybe 55" or 65", but old not sure if it is 1080p or 720p.

Plenty in there that are in the $30-$55 range. There's a promo code right now for an extra 5% off too. You get a free HDMI cable to plug it into the TV with it.

Shipping cost for standard is $13.00 at least. No free shipping. Thanks for the website it gave me names/model numbers of region free dvd players to search elsewhere which was good.

There is a free software solution that will make almost any Oppo blu-ray player region free for dvds only. I first read about it in the Oppo 203 thread on this site. I will see if I can find it again.

Here's the link:

I guess that Super disc method is just for Oppo players, but a quick search found that there are region modifying solutions for other makes and models of players, to varying degrees, and they are all free. Some are listed here at this webpage:

https://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks

I would do a search based on a specific player as dvd region locking is not that hard to defeat without spending any money in many instances. Or just buy a cheap modded dvd player if searching is too much of a headache.

A "hard example" would require that we know the make and model of the player that the OP's parents already own. Given that, a search could then be done for a free region modifying solution. These solutions are specific to a particular make and model. The link in my above post illustrates that such a solution exists for many players.

If the OP just wants to buy a modded player, there are many options that a simple internet search will reveal.

Here are some options that meet those price requirements:

Thanks in the end i went with the LG DP132H

https://www.amazon.com/LG-DP132H-Reg...+region+player

I recognized this brand and was cheaper in the end. It was $48 and I bought the last new one so only used now for $45. Hopefully it works
