Indivisible on Blu-ray (brief user review)

Indivisible is a Christian movie that is based on a true story of an army Chaplain and his family. Indivisible had a budget of $2.7 million dollars and box office sales were around $3.6 million dollars (This patriotic conservative Christian movie was profitable). This is a Pure Flix Entertainment movie, and with their business relationship with Universal Studios this movie was released on the Blu-ray format.

Indivisible is a very patriotic movie as seen by the actions of military people that are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to lay down their life to defend the United States of America and its allies from radical Islamic terrorist organizations. This is a PG-13 Christian movie for all family members, therefore the war violence and losing body parts like a leg is not as graphical when compared to some secular R rated war movies. In many ways Indivisible is based on the life of three military families and the physical and emotional problems that occurs during and after the war. We live in a fallen sinful world and bad things sometimes happen to good people. In addition, God has giving every human being free will, and because of free will leaders in foreign governments can make bad decisions that effect people in other areas of the world in a very negative way. Therefore, sometimes the military needs to get involved to defend their country and allies from terrorist organizations, etc.

Indivisible is really about the life of an army Chaplin and his family that wants to serve both their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and America. This true story shows the horrors and dangerous that occurred when Darren Turner is first deployed to Iraq in 2007. In addition, the movie shows how Darren Turner experienced psychological trauma during his Iraq deployment that effects his entire family in a negative way when he returns home. Indivisible shows when one has faith in Jesus Christ, how 3 military families were able to receive emotional healing after coming home.

While it’s true that action packed secular war movies are much more popular at the box office when compared to true stories like Indivisible. More movies like Indivisible should be made so more people can understand the struggles that military families go through during and after the war (Plus this movie shows the positive impact on how faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior can restore relationships in military families). Indivisible on Blu-ray is strongly recommended for all veterans, military families, and Christian families to own.

Video comments

Indivisible has only been released on a standard 1080P Blu-ray disc, and it never received the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc treatment. This Invisible Blu-ray/DVD combo pack uses 7.26GB of space out of 8.5GB on the dual layer 480i DVD disc. For those families that own 100% Blu-ray players, there is no reason to watch the included 480i DVD disc since the 480i DVD and 1080P Blu-ray disc both contain the exact same trailers and bonus features. The standard 1080P Blu-ray disc uses a total of 45.6GB of space on the 50GB dual layer Blu-ray disc. This Indivisible Blu-ray disc uses the MPEG-4/AVC codec with some scenes having a bit rate around 39Mbps (while other scenes are in the 36Mbps range). This Blu-ray uses a high MPEG-4/AVC bit rate that takes up a good portion of the dual layer disc. The picture quality is excellent with nice deep black levels, good resolution detail, and realistic on screen color information. It is disappointing that this Christian movie was not released on the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format. Indivisible contains English SDH and Spanish subtitle options.

Audio comments

Indivisible has a lossless English 5.1 DTS-HD Master soundtrack that is bit for bit exact the same as the studio master. An 11.1 DTS X or 11.1 Dolby ATMOS soundtrack would be better but because of this movies lower budget no such 11.1 studio master soundtrack exists. I found the 5.1 DTS-HD Master soundtrack to be very enjoyable with easy to understand dialogue coming out of the center channel, active subwoofer activity, good front speaker effects and surround sound. This movie is also encoded with lossy Spanish 5.1 DTS at 768kbps. For the visually impaired this movie has a lossy English Descriptive 2.0 Dolby Digital soundtrack at 192kbps.

Extra features

The main menu, trailers, and bonus features for this Blu-ray disc all use the MPEG-4/AVC codec with 1080P resolution. When this Blu-ray disc is first inserted in the Blu-ray player, there are several Christian movie trailers that play, some of the movie trailers use lossy 2.0 Dolby Digital stereo, while other trailers use lossy 5.1 Dolby Digital surround sound. All the bonus features on this Blu-ray disc uses lossy 2.0 Dolby Digital at 192kbps. The Heart of Indivisible lasts 5 minutes and 6 seconds. Finding Hope For Your Marriage lasts 3 minutes and 3 seconds. Haven’t we seen you somewhere lasts 2 minutes and 45 seconds. Meet the real Turners lasts 3 minutes and 33 seconds. Deleted Scenes lasts 12 minutes and 33 seconds. Interviews lasts 9 minutes and 14 seconds. Overall I found the bonus features interesting.

Conclusion

Indivisible was a very enjoyable true story to watch about an army Chaplin and his family. This movie has a strong Christian worldview. The high bit rate MPEG-4/AVC codec on a 1080P dual layer disc was close to reference quality. The 5.1 DTS-HD Master audio soundtrack was outstanding during some scenes in the movie. The bonus features were enjoyable to watch. Indivisible on Blu-ray is strongly recommended for all veterans, military families, and Christian families to own.
