Default 7.1 analog cables

Do people have a preference of where to buy a kit?

I forgot you need eight for 7.1 so you'll need four of them.

For the subwoofer, it is best not to use a regular RCA cable. A digital coaxial RG6, CL2 cable is recommended. Monoprice sells them at very low prices.

This is for a bit-streaming application, right? Not a speaker wire/ subwoofer cable kind of thing?

On my part, I would order from Bluejeanscable.

Their cables are top notch! You can choose the lenght you want and they have different choices of conductors.

You are correct. For bitstreaming, a regular RCA cable will do. For connecting the receiver to the subwoofer, use a proper subwoofer cable. Do not use a regular RCA cable.

I definitely second the recommendation for BJC. They will even wrap the whole set of cables in a snakeskin so everything remains nice and tidy in you equipment rack. Obviously, they will also colour-code the ends of the cables so you know which one plugs into where. I'm very happy with my 7.1 set from them.

Pro Satellite Supply Company also sells very good RCA cables at low prices.

3FT: $3.99 a pair, 6FT: $4.99 a pair, 12FT: $6.99 a pair, 25FT: $9.99 a pair

I third the Blue Jeans cable !!! I doubt there is anyone putting together custom audio/video cables that use better quality cable/wire and connectors anywhere for a lower price.

I'm in small upgrade mode, and am considering purchasing some of theirs to replace monoprice just to see if there is a difference. But I second the bluejean and monoprice recommendations.

You will be glad you did !!!

I am using some of their analog cables..... IC's, XLR's and sub-cable. I bought the IC's with better shielding to see if they would help with a hum that the TV was putting out and at first I was doubtful, but now I am so glad. No hum and dead silent, these cables only improved what I was hearing for the better.

What's not to like, custom lengths and various options for cable. You can't beat the price and service.

I own many different cables from Monoprice and the BJC's are of much better quality hands down. I'm even gonna swap all my Monoprice HDMI's for the new BJC HDMI cables for the hell of it.

I made my own speaker cables with Canare 4S11 cable in a star quad design. I got the cable from Blue Jeans and picked up some Kimber Kable Post Master spades. I soldered them on and dressed it up with Techflex and heat shrink tubing,

I also own some other more expensive cables from Nordost and Audioquest and I am just as happy with the BJC ones.
