I don’t think I like these movies enough to double dip. But at the very least, Legally Blonde 2 should be remastered properly.

I love the first movie, and I haven't picked up the original Blu-ray, so I may as well get this and treat the sequel like a bonus feature. This is a bit of an unusual license for them, and I'm not sure what kind of new extras they'll add, but hopefully they do something interesting. It goes to show that just about anything in MGM's catalog is available for license. I'm also surprised they have new art with Reese Witherspoon on the cover when they've been making a big stink over actor likenesses these days, especially with bigger named actors.

I have certainly been critical of Shout quite a bit lately, so even though I'm not interested in this release at all, I'm glad to see they are pricing it to match what you say here. Two movies for what Shout considers the price of one seems reasonable as a starting point.

I wonder why Shout didn’t go all out and include Legally Blondes as well.

MGM didn’t sell it to them?

Weird possibility, there’s no reason for them to be possessive of one of the most hated sequels ever.

Either it bombed on home video so bad that MGM just decided they keep it and let Fox continue distributing or it did enough to show up as an MVD Marquee Collection release.

Either way, MGM didn’t sell it to Shout who was more interested in the Elle Woods saga more.

If I had to guess, Shout just wasn’t interested, and who could blame them? I haven’t heard a positive word about that DTV film. They skipped out on Urban Legend III: Bloody Mary for probably the same reason. Both films are spinoffs more than anything.

Shout has released far worse on Blu-ray

I have the previous 2 movie release. Why would I want this over that? Are the movies remastered? Are there lots of new extras? The other release is still available for $9.99 if anyone wants the two movies for less than what Shout is selling this for.

It’s probably expected to sell because of the upcoming Legally Blonde 3. If anything’s different, Legally Blonde 2 would be remastered this time because the original Blu-ray is kind of ugly.

Legally Blonde is going to have a 4K remaster, but nothing for 2... which is the one that needs a new transfer more. Yes, the first is a vastly better film but the existing transfer is adequate whereas 2's transfer is ancient and DNRed.

Both also include new interviews with Jessica Cauffiel...

She also did one for Urban Legends: Final Cut, I wouldn’t be surprised if her long interview was split across the different Shout/Scream releases featuring her.

She seems like a sweet girl, but are her anecdotes enticing enough for a double dip? I’m not sure.

Why even bother including the second film? The least they could have done is remaster it properly for the 0.00001% of the population that likes that movie.

That's almost certainly what happened. Shout did the same thing with Jamie Lee Curtis when they interviewed her for The Fog. They had her talk about other films, and her comments on H20 were used in their doc for that film. From what I've heard, she also talked about Prom Night in case Shout ever got that film, but Synapse got it instead and she was completely absent from their doc for that film (despite it also being a Red Shirt Pictures production). If I were them, I would've tried to license the footage.

Always was curious to see the original ending of the first film, but apparently there's no new extras. Oh well.
