Default The Colour Out of Space -Nicholas Cage

Bloody-Disgusting
Quote:
SpectreVision is reteaming with Mandy star Nicolas Cage on a feature-length adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft‘s short story, The Colour Out of Space.

The film is to be directed by Richard Stanley (Hardware) from his own screenplay in which Cage plays Nathan Gardner, an affluent New Yorker and family man who has taken up residence on his father’s old farm homestead. When a mysterious meteorite plummets into their front yard, the scene is set for hallucination and horror as the family is menaced by eldritch forces that begin to absorb all in their path.

Those are three elements I never thought I'd see together (Cage, Stanley, Lovecraft); sure makes an interesting combination. I'd have to see this day one. Count me in.

Dunno anything about this and Cage is always a frightening prospect, but Lovecraft and the premise sound good enough.

I've often found the best ones often make the worst movies and vice versa. Re-Animator and From Beyond being prime examples.

Cage is better in Mom & Dad than Mandy.

But I welcome Cage in any and all horror roles.

As a huge Lovecraft fan I do agree with your post but at the same time a good number of his stories are similar, primarily in how they end. Someone goes insane giving a vague description of what they saw and either end up dead or in an asylum.

I'm just glad they are doing an adaptation of any of his stories at this point. Nic Cage being in this is a huge bonus.

I still need to catch "Mom & Dad" but I definitely agree with your second sentence.

The name didn't ring a bell so I looked up Richard Stanley. Did he even have the popularity in the past to even justify using the word "comeback"? I saw his filmography and other than "The Island of Dr. Moreau" I don't recognize the rest of his work.

I find Cage highly watchable in nearly any role, and even more so when he works with an eccentric director (Herzog, Jonze, De Palma, Woo and most recently Panos Cosmatos). Hell, just the fact that this is Cage in a Lovecraft adaptation will get me to commit...and I'm already feeling the urge to give a re-watch to DIE, MONSTER, DIE!

Awesome!

I remember reading years ago that Nicholas Cage was a big Lovecraft fan and he used to read his stories to his children.
