A lot of good shit got snubbed. It's the GG, so I'm not surprised.

Only tuned in last year to see Oldman winning awards (waited until the end of the show to tune in) and this year there's no one I personally care if they win or not. I mean, I hope B.Cooper and Shallow gets some love, but I'm not making no effort to watch their farce anymore.

Agree on M:I, that movie was ridiculous. But “one of the worst” MCU movies and direction?

The 2nd half of BP was very disappointing. Once Killmonger enters Wakanda, it goes downhill fast.

It’s no masterpiece. I was more calling out the hyperbole.

Downer people: They never nominate films that people go and see...

*highest grossing film of the year gets nominated*

Same people: ...not that one though.

Fallout’s biggest shortcoming is its story. The action and stunts are all-time great but they hang on a story that even McQ and Cruise admit was kinda being made up as they shot the movie. Black Panther doesn’t have that issue. Honestly my only real gripes are the quality of CG and the annoyance that better superhero movies never got this much attention in years past.

Naysayers always scream the loudest. Reading these threads, one might think Black Panther is on the same level of Justice League or Green Lantern.

As has been pointed before, it makes total sense to nominate it. It's still one of the most critically acclaimed films of the year overall (and certainly one of the most acclaimed MCU films ever, if not the most), it was the biggest box-office story of the year in the U.S. (one of the biggest ever, actually), and it resonates with people who champion stuff like "inclusion" and "diversity". It checks all the boxes. It'll make even more sense for industry awards such as the Oscars to nominate it.

It's one of MCU's best from the writing alone. It was very dense--I've only seen it once, but I was picking things up left and right. Very unlike other Marvel movies in that regard.

Best Drama winner will come down to A Star is Born and/or If Beale Street Could Talk anyway. The others don’t stand a chance at winning.

Knowing the awards, they'll allow Black panther, although ASIB and IBSCT are stronger choices.

It's a really good movie, no doubt. And Tom Crusie does an amazing job in it. But "Best Picture" it is not. There was never a snowball's chance in hell it was getting nominated. It's an awards movie. It's popcorn fare. Really good popcorn fare, but still popcorn fare. Don't sit there and try to pass this off as Shakespeare Rufus.

ABSOLUTELY. The story was...meh. But the action of course makes up for it but it’s no masterpiece.

The crux of the argument is that Black Panther got nominated for Best Picture. Other than some annoying movement nonsense, there's no way Black Panther should be a nominee. And if it is, there's no reason a superior fim in the same genre like MI: Fallout shouldn't be. That's the argument.

Yeah, one of the worst in the MCU. I don't care if you don't agree as you're entitled to your opinion, but I put it in the bottom half of the films released thus far. If any MCU film should have been nominated for anything it would have been TWS, not this last half with terrible ass CGI, video game rhinos, wants to be more woke than it is overblown fluff. It's okay, Michael B. Jordan and the entire cast of women keep it interesting, but it's just...not...that...good...to...get...all....the.. hype...it...has. IMO.

Fallout has a better score, better direction, better stunts, better CGI, better story (even if somewhat lacking - but come on the plot is better than angry kid wants to take down country and last like...3 days)....

As Mifune said, not saying it's great. But if we are gonna start nominating action films and popcorn fare like Black Panther for 'dem ratings, might as well put in a movie that took THREE YEARS to get the stunts coordinated for and applaud someone like Cruise for his dedication to take YOU the cinema-goer on a high octane journey using his own body and doing incredible things NEVER done on camera.

That's my argument.
