I guess if Shout! were to do The Guyver, there's a good chance they could easily restore the True Director's Cut, which would be the first time it would be out on video since the Japanese LaserDisc.

Problem is that we're talking about Shout! Factory, so...

I haven't seen this one since VHS days and honestly I don't remember anything about it other than the fact that Robert Englund was in it. It definitely wasn't something I wanted to revisit back then. I wouldn't pay SHOUT prices for it. But hey.... I'm always happy to see obscure horror films given the blu-ray treatment!!

4K scan of the uncut version? Now I'm incredibly excited for this release! They put the effort in, they get my money.

Sucks that Shout! is putting this out. Gotta find a loophole where I can get it without putting money into Shout!'s pockets.
I say give your money to DiabolikDVD. If they carry it, I know that's where I'm getting it.

It’s ridiculous that crap films are getting more effort out into their picture quality than actual well known popular films

It's all subjective. I love The Mangler and enjoy it more than many "popular" films. Doesn't make my opinion any more valid than yours and vice versa.

While I agree that its strange to see some obscure genre film get such a nice treatment on blu-ray when there's plenty of mainstream titles that are still unreleased, it definitely speaks volumes in regards to the willingness of fans to support these movies and physical media as a whole!

The fact that companies can release a low budget forgotten horror film and give it a 4K scan, loads of extras, etc, and have us buy them for $30+ says a lot. It's a shame that some major studios regard physical media as a dying format and treat their titles with such little regard. If "The Mangler" can get a nice treatment on blu then where in the hell is our copy of THE ABYSS on blu-ray??

Companies like SHOUT catch a lot of **** for some of their releases and the costs of them, but we are really fortunate that these companies exist! Being the horror fan that I am I really feel the BLU-RAY GODS above have blessed us with such an awesome catalog of movies!!

Can this be the new BR.com drinking game? Take a shot every time someone posts "THIS gets a Blu but not True Lies or The Abyss?" and you'll die of alcohol poisoning in no time.

While this isn't one of Hooper's best, I will proudly be adding this to my collection.

Maybe not day 1, maybe not day 2, but soon and for the rest of my life.

Plus there's something about Ted Levine's performance that seemed odd, yet I always look forward to seeing.

Are Shout doing the transfer themselves though? Or is it just the company who own it was able to do this transfer on their own?

More than likely, a new master was made at the request of Scream but done by Warner. Warner transfers are outstanding, more times than not.

It’s definitely not the best Hooper movie & some silly dialogue & acting, but Englund is always campy fun. I liked that it was gory & well the version everyone asked for, good release from Shout!

Yeah, it’s not Hooper’s best, but I am looking forward to picking it up. It’s awesome that it’s the uncut version with a 4k scan from the OCN. It should look really good and I’m looking forward to Englund’s interview.

I cancelled my pre-order because despite the solid presentation, I can’t drop $28 on this. I don’t have it in me!

But a release like this shows me that when it is possible, Scream can deliver.

I never thought The Mangler could look so good on home video. Phenomenal transfer. Love finally seeing the uncut version in HD! My one caveat to the transfer is the occasional compression issue but they're not obvious. This is a slam dunk from Scream and fans can buy with confidence.

Also, great interview with Englund!

As a gore-hound, and hearing about the pretty awesome deaths, I feel like I should buy this down the line...

Those of you who've seen it, how IS the gore?

It's spectacular. Some of the nastiest gore I've seen in a film. The unrated cut doesn't hold back. It's not constant but when it hits, it's splatterific!
