Surprised no one's discussed the supposed 'choose your own adventure' interactive options planned for at least one of the future episodes.

Part of me hates the idea. Part of me loves it - the part being where I'll watch something and go 'why didn't they end it this way?' or 'I would have changed this about it.' etc. etc.

Finally watched all of these I gotta say I was hooked but I did not care for metalhead at all...

Me and my wife were both puzzled why the women did what she did.. it was kind easy to figure out what was going to happen at the end. but the fact of the way how it started with no real backstory I did not like at all.

Default Netflix's "Black Mirror: Bandersnatch"

Premieres December 28, 2018.

This is presumed to be the interactive "choose-your-own-adventure" episode. We will know for sure tomorrow.

Per Variety:
Quote:
It’s expected to be a choose-your-own-adventure style movie, with reports that “Bandersnatch” includes 312 minutes of material (just over five hours) to explore.

According to Netflix’s description of the special, “Black Mirror: Bandersnatch” is set in 1984, when a young programmer (Fionn Whitehead) begins to question reality as he adapts a sprawling fantasy novel called “Bandersnatch” — written by a mad genius who allegedly cut off his wife’s head — into an adventure video game. Our code-jockey hero soon faces “a mind-mangling challenge.”

i'll watch almost anything with the word Snatch in the title.

I will also tell any and everyone that Black Mirror is an incredible series and I can't wait to watch this addition to it.

I think it's funny how all the news places keep calling it a "standalone film" and I'm thinking ok, so like all of the other standalone episodes then? They mean it's not part of a new season, but not like the normal episodes connect.

I’m pretty sure it’s just to illustrate it’s not a part of a new season as it was wildly rumoured that the fifth season was going to be released in December.

Review for it here:

But apparently I won't be able to watch/partake as it doesn't work on Apple TV.

The novelty of the interactive aspect wore off pretty quickly. As for the story itself I didn’t find it all that original, though no doubt it will blow some people’s minds. More importantly though neither did I think that it was delivered in a sufficiently compelling way. I was underwhelmed, but I usually am when it comes to Black Mirror and Charlie Brooker.

This is why I am merging the threads. Regardless of whether or not it is part of a new season, it still is under the "Black Mirror" show and most, if not all, the episodes are standalones and rarely ever connect besides a sly wink or nod or two.

According to IGN there are five proper endings, though I imagine there maybe an Easter egg or two.

Has anyone tried it yet? Is it literally just the same thing for 95% of it, and then you get 1 of 5 different endings? Or are there multiple different scenes? I would probably like to watch it "naturally" once and see what ending I get and then just skip to the parts where the differences begin again. Unless each journey is drastically different.

Not had a chance to see it, but it’s pretty multi-branching from the sounds of it (over 5 hours of material) and the choices vary from the banal like choosing cereal to the drastic.

Just finished watching this and I thought it was pretty good. I’m curious to those that have said they didn’t like it, did you keep watching until all the choices stopped coming up and Netflix autoplayed another episode? There were a lot of points during the movie where I was shown an ending and given the option to watch the credits or go back to an earlier point and go through things again. I kept doing this, making different choices and was even given different options than what I was given the first time through a scenario. Eventually the movie ended with an ending and I wasn’t allowed to go back to an earlier point and continue on. I think everyone really needs to keep going through choices until you aren’t allowed to anymore. This is a really interesting and important piece of entertainment.
