There's been a lot of information about this. Almost too much. The imDb page says a 2019 release. Amazon UK already has a DVD release for purchase. The Facebook page says to pre-order their special blu-dvd package including autograph, but the link to that is no good. I'm looking to get the amazon U.K. (Australian) DVD release as its' region free. I don't want to get it knowing that there will be an upcoming blu release in the near future on Amazon.com. Also that DVD on the UK site comes out to almost 30 bucks after conversion to U.S. dollars. I'm looking for more insight and information on this if anyone has any?

yes it is. The daughter from that movie is playing the mother in the new one. Also, the father in the original one (Burt Young) has a small part as well. Trying to find blu-ray release info. Australia already has a dvd, and there was some sort of pre-sell blu/dvd autograph combo on their dedicated facebook page. That page's link to the package is dead though.

Is this film any good? I like all Amityville films up to the remake except for maybe Curse. The Amityville films after the remake are all pretty bad including Awakening. I didn’t even bother checking out Amityville Vanishing Point, Exorcism and No Escape. Is this one like the films in the original series?

I'm friends with the director on Facebook. The Blu-Ray/DVD combo will be released on Feb. 8th. It was originally supposed to be released last November, and that's when the autographed poster package was active, but the studio held it back to do more promotion.

I like the Amityville series for the schlock factor—Parts I–IV are a lot of fun. After Dollhouse, things have gotten a little wonky. I know there have been a batch of direct-to-DVD "sequels" in the past several years which really have no association with the original series, and those all look really awful. I saw Amityville: The Awakening a few years back when Google Play finally dumped it for free streaming before it got its miniscule theatrical release (another Weinstein/Miramax schlub job), and it was decent but unremarkable. I may give this one a shot only because of Daniel Farrands.

I thought if it was BD-R they weren't allowed to use the blu-ray logo? If that's the case, the artwork on Amazon has it on the spine and back cover.

This film's basic idea is in the right place. I would love to see a proper film based on the DeFeo murders, but one based more on facts instead of trying to suggest something supernatural has anything to do with it. We've already been here before. It's called Amityville II: The Possession (which I don't care for at all, but I know it has its fans). I like Daniel Farrands a lot as a person, and I like his documentaries, but none of his films have impressed me at all. His ideas are either too ambitious for their own good, or not ambitious enough. All of his scripts for Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, as well as the comics he wrote for the series, were too bogged down with mythology, and had precious little time to focus on the characters, among other issues. He also wrote Amityville: The Awakening, and has a film in the works about Sharon Tate's ghost. I don't always agree with Brian Orndorf's film reviews, but he was right on the money with this movie.
