Maybe the poor reviews had me go into the movie with low expectations but I rather enjoyed this movie. The 3D isn't great but any means but I have seen worse.

Thanks for the info Dog of War. Glad the movie was better than expected.

The 3D is decent. Go for it if you find a bargain and are interested in the movie. I think by "dimensionality," I was trying to rate roundness of the 3D objects and gave it a high score because it is all native 3D with decent depth strength. "2D thinking" by the filmmakers probably hurt the experience the most.
Thanks Bleed Orange. I think I'll finally give it a try. The lady from Dredd is in it, and she was pretty good in Dredd, balancing the movie really well as Dredd's side kick.

While I don't think The Darkest Hour is one of the greatest movies ever, it does have some bad things about such as the acting at time. But i thought it was an entertaining movie and not nearly as bad as critics made it out to be, and the 3D on this I thought was really good. The people incinerating into dust looked even better in 3D seeing those particles flying at you.

As someone with a Dredd av, did you think Olivia Thirlby did a good job in Darkest Hour? I thought she was OK in it, but amazing in Dredd.

Slightly of note is that i believe the new Robocop, Joel Kinnaman is in Darkest Hour as the Russian friend (someone please correct me if i'm wrong).

The movie is DREADFUL and the only decent 3D in it can be seen used to much better effect in the far superior Fright Night remake

I think Olivia did an ok job, she really didn't have much to do in this movie, I thought she was way better in Dredd also.

no you're right Joel Kinnaman the same guy from The this movie & the tv show The Killing, is playing the new Robocop. Sucks it's not gonna come out this year like it was suppose to, they're pushing it back to 2014. Which I think they're planning on doing a 3D conversion for it also.

Was there a lot of action in this one? This one played in 2D in my theaters, but not 3D, otherwise I was going to see it back then.

Finally got to see Darkest Hour 3D a few months back. The 3D was good, except for that one shot where after the club gets attacked, they're in the background talking in the basement, and the shot is static on them. The 3D was converted for that shot it seems, and looked reversed actually. Otherwise, no big deal. The movie was mildly interesting so I'll have to watch it again for the 3D.

Just pulled this one out for a rewatch as it's been a few years. It's a weird kind of movie, with a teen horror movie cast but attempting to be a big sci fi. I always enjoyed it and it has some great shots of Moscow.

I need to pull this one back out as well, I thought it was a decent movie.

Decided to grab one that trickled through Amazon's stock at the $7.50 price-point, and I thought the native 3D was great. Plenty of enveloping vistas, lots of organic depth; a real treat in our conversion-only present. They don't make them like this anymore.

Interesting movie about invisible enemies, though the 3D could've been much more exciting, and it ended up with mostly mild to medium 3D layers most of the time.

Finally saw this and thought it was just okay. The 3D was nice. Not crazy good but nice. It wouldn't surprise me if they actually used 3D cameras. The movie was pretty bad weighed down by atrocious acting and action scenes. CGI was decent. If you are on a mission to consume as many 3D movies as possible like me, it's worth watching if you can get ahold of it for like $5 like I did. Otherwise, wait until you can or skip as you aren't really missing much.

They did, for most of it. The shots in the water toward the end are (badly) converted.

It's been about 5+ years since I've watched Darkest Hour 3D. It's kind of a post apocalyptic survival movie where the few survivors are always on the run, hiding out from the invisible creature aliens, trying to remain unseen until they find a solution. The 3D could've been a lot more daring from what I remember. Even so, this mostly filmed 3D movie set in Russia I believe, is a better 3D experience than the very mild 3D conversion of Stalingrad 3D.

Here's a trailer for the film, Darkest Hour:

And a trailer for the movie in the thread, The Darkest Hour 3D. I wish they didn't let movies have the same exact name, but it's not easy finding a name that hasn't been used for a movie yet.

I've watched it about 3 times, including mid last year on the projector, and I enjoy the story, and the 3D.

That's pretty good, thanks. I'll have to give it another spin soon in the 3D player.

Stalingrad was also native 3D.

I rewatched The Darkest Hour just last week. I thought it was an OK movie. I thought the 3D was decent.
