The price dropped to 66$ a few weeks ago

That is a crazy deal if you are into those shows. Why? It has 4 discs and totals around 9-10 hours of great footage. I think it is a great deal and will buy it eventually.

I'm on disc three of PE that I got from Netflix and I've enjoyed it quite a bit. There was only one episode where the PQ was kind of disappointing, and that was the Caves episode in some of the dark shots. Otherwise, there are plenty of "wow" moments in PE. I probably wouldn't watch it over and over, but it's definitely worth seeing it one way or another.

Default Excellent

It is an excellent series. One of the very best environment documentaries ever. Plus the amazon price is definately a deal. It is $100 at Best Buy. So I would recommend the Amazon route if you do decide on getting it. Some of the very best shots of wildlife you will ever see. Plus shots of the earth from space in blu-ray is something else to see.

Default Quality

The quality of the encode is not as good as the encode that played on the discovery channel. There is a lot of pixelization, and color problems. In fact I loved the TV version in HD, but couldn't stand watching the image problems in the blu-ray, so I returned it, and got my money back. I researched the problems, and many people had the same issues, but there was a rumor that problems were only occuring in a subset of the total discs made, and they've resolved the problems

It seems that nobody here has had that problem, your one of a kind. Where did you do your research, AVS?

Yea I have to agree, the Blu-ray version I found to be of better quality than the discovery channel as it should be.

definitely a troll...you can't buy a blu ray disc, open it, and then return it to the store to get your money back. so he is obviously lying and in all likelihood has never even seen the blu ray version

imo, it's top notch, though i rented it because it is too expensive...i stick to buying the action movies on blu
