Default Help! I want to place an order with amazon.co.uk, BUT....

Well, there having a B2G1 deal and i found 3 that I liked, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Layer Cake, and Men in Black. I am also going to get The Shawshank Redemption. Before I pull the trigger I just want to make sure that these will be able to play on my U.S. PS3.

BTW, I would be getting all of these titles shipped for $48.74!!

Please if you guys have any insight on these titles it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!

this site will tell you if they are region locked or not

http://bluray.liesinc.net/index.php?region=b

and just to help you out and be lazy all 4 of them are region free so they can play in your U.S. player.

I want to make an order here as well. But am worried about 1 thing, will the extras play on my Sony player. I'm hoping they are NTSC for Close Encounters. Also wanna get Devil's Own which is also region free.

BTW: Close Encounters is supposed to be a digipak over there, the pic is a tad wrong.

I have the CEOTK Blu-ray from the U.K. and the extras play in my U.S. PS3.

The only one the OP should be wary of is The Shawshank Redemption. All the extras on the UK disc are in PAL format.

No offense, just asking, but why would you spend $50 on 3 blu-rays you could just get in the U.S.? It's not that great of a deal.

Yeah, I own it myself. One of the few films where I don't care about the audio not being lossless.

Right now in Canada Close Encounters on Blu is 39.99 at its cheapest plus taxes. The UK B2G1 is a good deal for this title IMO.

Thanks for all the help guys, it sounds like I'm gonna do it. But now my biggest worry is that one post mentioned the Close Encounters coming in a Digi-book packaging. Half the reason I am getting Shawshank imported is because the U.S. version is in digi-package. Anyone know for sure and have any pics of the packaging?

Thanks!

I have one and can tell you it is in the normal blu-ray case. It is a little bit thinner than a normal US blu case.

If you have the UK version, it is in a normal blu-ray case? And its slimmer that the US one? That'd be a first as the UK plastic cases are thicker than the US ones in most cases. You're sure its not a cardboard case then hey?

EDIT: If you're talking about Shawshank, nevermind... lol

Just FYI, the Close Encounters 2-disc UK blu-ray comes in a digipak an inch thick. The case includes a 64-page book(which I was told it didn't come with) & mini poster/Blu guide. The outer case is pretty durable, much like the North American release. The film on disc 1 & the extras on disc 2 all play on my Sony BDP-S350. I am VERY pleased with this set. Buy now!

Well I just got my shipment today, and I am not happy. The Shawshank Redemption came in a normal U.S. blu-ray case size with the insert, I thought all UK discs were thick? The copy was not even sealed, and the case shows wear. Layer Cake is perfect and sealed and in the thick case. Both copies of Close Encounters are damaged, one even looked like it was open and resealed by the way a bend is, plus it doesn't have the blu-ray disc sticker on the outside like the other copy has.

I just sent customer service a short but to the point email informing them that I was less than thrilled with what I received from "NEW" items and the damaged items. I will not hesitate to send these items back if they do not want to fix this problem. I hope their customer service is similar to the the one in the states and will fix this matter promptly.
