Arrow The Social Network 2 (Aaron Sorkin teases potential follow up)

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/ne...etwork-1175567

Quote:
The Oscar-winning screenwriter of the 2010 Facebook film reveals that producer Scott Rudin has emailed him about it more than once.
Aaron Sorkin thinks there should be a Social Network sequel.

In a new AP Entertainment video, the Oscar-winning screenwriter revealed that he thinks it might be time for a follow-up to the hugely successful 2010 David Fincher film. "First of all, I know a lot more about Facebook in 2005 than I do in 2018 — but, I know enough to know that there should be a sequel," said Sorkin, laughing.

The prolific scribe revealed that he isn't the only one who thinks so, either. Social Network producer Scott Rudin appears to be eager to get another Facebook movie off the ground. "I’ve gotten more than one email from him with an article attached saying, 'Isn’t it time for a sequel?''' said Sorkin, adding: "A lot of very interesting, dramatic stuff has happened since the movie ends with settling the lawsuit from the Winklevoss twins and Eduardo Saverin."

Facebook, of course, has found itself in the center of multiple controversies recently. CEO Mark Zuckerberg, portrayed by Jesse Eisenberg in the film, and COO Sheryl Sandberg have come under fire for the company's mishandling of users' private data. The company has also suffered from other damaging stories, from the Cambridge Analytica data scandal to the attempted PR pushback against George Soros to the promotion of political violence in places like Myanmar — not to mention the role the social platform played in interference with the 2016 U.S. elections.
I think the idea seems pretty fascinating, a lot of appeal and the fascination behind The Social Network revolved around all involved being excited about this huge seismic creation that they believed they had no control over, to cover the the pick up later to see the ramifications of that seems like an ideal follow up in my eyes.

Aaron Sorkin + David Fincher would have my ass in a seat no matter what the movie was. So hopefully it happens.

Good. The Academy owe Fincher an Oscar after that Tom Hooper tragedy. The only reason he won was because of Weinstein. With him out of the picture, this will be a cake walk.

I think it's a good idea. As long as Fincher is also on board and the same cast returns, I think this would have a lot of potential.

I can't imagine anything that would keep me away from this. There's so much to delve into. And Sorkin, well, he never disappoints.

Sorkin writing, Fincher directing, same cast returning -- I'll be there.

Social Network is the best movie of the decade IMO, so it'll be tough to match it. But if anyone can do it, that team can.

I revisited Fincher's THE SOCIAL NETWORK just last month and it still holds up beautifully (I'd nearly forgotten Rooney Mara is in it, and had completely forgotten Dakota Johnson has a small role). I was highly skeptical seeing it theatrically in 2010 that the genesis of Facebook would be the stuff of great drama, but the film was superb...and that ending remains perfection.

Well if the feds had any sense the exec's of these companies who do these things or allow user data to be breached should be criminally liable. At least then it would happen a lot less. If criminal charges are placed against FB this film will have something to say but otherwise I'm not sure.

I never thought The Social Network was a very good movie outside Fincher's direction and Trent Reznor's score but with the developments with Facebook since the movie was released would make for something that would actually make for a intriguing movie.

Will it include that time when he sold America out to the Russian hackers for some extra bank?

Aaron Sorkin Would Like to Write 'Social Network' Sequel - The screenwriter, who wants to see director David Fincher return, has found inspiration in the 2019 book 'Zucked.'

I know in the last decade, Facebook shenanigans have given us enough material for a trilogy though I feel it’s unnecessary as we’re technically living the sequel watching it unfold in real time on television news outlets.

Social Network really released at the right time, back when Facebook was considered cool. Now most young adults don't even use it anymore.

But yeah, Fincher returning for the sequel would be great!
